While a bigger engine will always make more power, the same size engine with twin turbos and DI willmake more. More valves is typically better, because out 5.4 motors are 3 valve engines. Ford even made a video about why a 3 valve is better than GMs 2 valve, so I will let them shoot thier feet and explain it to you themelves

But you don't need multi valves with this much bore space. Multi valve have a larger advantage in small bores due to shrouding issues that you would run into with larger 2v. 400 plus cfm has all ready been accomplished by working the 2v 6.2l ports over. Who the hell needs even close to more than that on the street?? The ecoboost will probably make more power per its size. But who gives a shit? This isn't a Honda forum.

Of course Ford made a video trying to convince why three is better than two, their trying to sling a product.

Yes, multi valve heads will flow and be more efficient 99% of the time. But due to the 6.2 large bores, there is no need for it. Unless your trying to make 2500hp, which no one here is doing.

Ok I scanned over that article. I'm at work so I don't have the time to get real involved with it. The first part looks like its talking about the benefits of a ohc vs ohv engine when it comes to valve train weight that takes affect at higher RPM. That part I will almost fully agree with but it really doesn't imply to what were talking about here because both the ecoboost and 6.2 are ohc engines.

The second part is combustion chamber designs. Once again it really doesn't apply because we are comparing ohc engines that are going to have similar chamber designs (due to the fact they are both ohc). We can't expect them to have exactly the same chamber designs because one was designed for boost and one wasn't. You will probably find more flat spots in the 6.2 chamber for cylinder quench. Quench, important in N/A applications but not so much in boosted. Or at least, not in boost applications that I have seen thats been proven.

Problem is, just when you think you have an article like that all figured out, a push rod motor comes along and seems to do the impossible. On paper the multi valve ohc wins, but not always the case in real life. I like my old push rod windsors/385's and ohc mod motors both. Can't say I like either one more than the other. Kinda like picking between a fine blonde or brunette. I just want them both :)

Unless the guy at Ford lied, the only engine the Raptor will get in 2011 is the 6.2

BurnedToast, instead of saying he might have lied maybe you could acknowledge that he's in a position where he CAN'T tell anyone what he knows.

According to well-placed sources the EcoBoost motor will not be put into the Raptor except the one being use to demonstrate the EcoBoost's durability to the difficult-to-please truck market.

Besides, what kinda hippie tree huggin, granola eatin, hemp smoking, ****** name is EcoBoost? At least name it somthin ****** mean if your going to drop it into the Raptor.

Yeah, Ford should take its marketing cues from you. They're trying to make high quality products that the market wants and also please the government while meeting their CAFE requirements and you drop the f bomb while criticizing the name of a motor that other manufacturers can only wish they had.

No BurnedToast, you didn't accuse him of lying you simply said, "unless he was lying".

That's like someone saying to you, "unless you're lying about you owning a Raptor..."

You're talking on a forum that uses "FORD" in it's title and URL about a FORD employee who was kind enough to share information with you and that's what you say.

Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you.

Yeah cause an engine named ecoboost, short for Economyboost, (THE NAME) fits the Raptor real well:manos:

Never said anything bad about the mechanics or theory of operation about the engine so take a chill.

OK, so you don't like the name. It's an amazing engine on that we can agree. I'm sure it's much more important for Ford to advertise their products' economy (MPGs) than on power (HP and torque). For better or worse we're living in a green world now and that's a game changer.
