Exhaust note and reliability will be what drives engines in vehicles. Ford went against the grain with the Ecoboost Raptor, and they will learn their lesson.

Now that it's clear we both can read, and both read the very short article. Never did I say that the eco boost is faster. Yes the coyote is faster but it's only a matter of time before the eco boost catches up. It's already closer than it was before.

There are also other factors which could make it a better motor, reliabllity, fuel economy and others.

Now the 4 cyl eco boost isn't faster but the 6 cyl is far superior. Hell its even better than the **** 6.2 in the first gen Raptor. Now that Ford got the Raptor out of the way, it's working on the Mustang.

Just like the Raptor community, there are tons of hard headed "American cars must be v8" "it's not a mustang unless it's v8" people out there. If people weren't so hard headed the v6 eco boost would be in the mustang and the mustang be far superior.

You seem really upset for someone replying to someone else's opinion on a public forum.

It's great that you brought up the "**** 6.2 in the first gen Raptor" that was an N/A engine. Since that was totally relevant to this thread.

Ford isn't "working on the mustang" with regards to the ecoboost, the Eco-4 has been an option for a few years now. The flagship mustangs are ALL V-8s, I'd hardly call that working on transitioning to the Eco engine.

It's cool that you're an Ecoboost fanboy and that you're probably defending your purchase of a Gen2 (since we're bringing that whole thing up right?) but you're reaching with your argument.

460 puts the GT in the same sight lines as the C7 vette, though the Mustang is still significantly down on torque (Vette makes 460 ft-lbs). And a Mustang GT costs at least $15k less than a Vette right? Good value.

As long as the track in question has no turns, you're correct.

Then again, cars that can out-accelerate the 'Vette that can be had for less than a 'Vette are nothing new... remember the "Terminator" Cobra Mustangs? While the '18 5.0L Mustang won't be a dragstrip special with ****** suspension and brakes, neither will it be in the same league as the Corvette in those two areas.

Innovation brings out the critics. At the end of the day I think the Ecoboost is the way of the future, and far superior to the large displacement V8. It will take time, but people will start to see it.

This argument is decades old, bro. And much like 4th wave feminism, it's really tired and definitely not going anywhere.

Real world fuel economy has always been a soft spot for the ecoboost, as is reliability and owner satisfaction. Those are some pretty hefty trade offs for a measly 39 horsepower. And the ecoboost, of course, has a lot less real world potential if your truck is ever going to spend any time off road.

If the regulations continue to get tighter, we will likely see more bad/forced compromises, which is what the ecoboost really is. But for now there are plenty of better engines out there. And if that ever ceases to be the case, real enthusiasts will always always have the aftermarket.

My 17 raptor is my first ecoboost. I have had the 4.6 and 5.0 reg cab f150 before this truck. I loved my 5.0. I love my raptor now, and I was worried about the sound aspect compared to the 5.0. That went away once I started the raptor. Now when I get my mustang, there will be a v-8 no questions about that. I will never own a v-6 mustang .

All of the ecoboost era Raptor owners will crap their pants when they see what is coming. It is sad that people are paying premiums for these ecoboosts.
