My sound is directly coming from the drivers side firewall area down by my feet. I replaced the CPV as someone stated that can cause a similar noise but that did not resolve the sound. The best description is a sputter/exhaust leak sound with a mild ticking that accompanies it. Speed of sound is consistent with rpm speed. Ttuck runs fine otherwise. Its just a really noticeable sound withbthe radio off and windows up. I was thinking of doing plugs, wires, and coils. The truck only has 52,000 miles on it.

I'm supercharged, but I've blown two manifolds (driver's side) - so it can be done. Second time was a visible crack. I've gone to a full exhaust now.

Other thought I had - even though you said it seemed rpm specific, could it be your IWE? Try pulling and plugging your vacuum line on that side. A failed IWE (or vacuum) system can make some weird noises, and it comes from your foot area.

There have been a couple - relatively few and far between - reports of exhaust manifold leaks. As well as some on the Super Duties with the 6.2. You could check exhaust pressure on both sides to see if there's a leak on one side. Would it be possible for us to get a video of the sound and the perceived location?
I cant post one on here as far as I know unless I create a youtube account.

Would possibly putting it in 4H and seeing if the sound goes away indicate an IWE issue. I do have a vacuum test kit. Just wondering if the 4H could point me there faster.

Yes, that could do it as well. You are introducing some more components into play at that point, but I'd think that if it goes away in 4WD that it would definitely point me towards the IWEs. You can independently test each IWE with your vacuum test kit - very easy. You can also test the vacuum line after that (if both IWEs measure good). Honestly though, if your issue is easy to normally reproduce I'd just go try your 4WD test first and see if the sound persists in 4WD. Personally I'd probably pull the vacuum line since that's also very simple, and though it's technically "ok" to drive on pavement in 4WD I don't like to do it if I can avoid it. Your call, six of one, half dozen of the other.
