E85: Impressions?

In my truck I usually try to fill up with E85 before I go on an off road trip, the mileage goes down pretty significantly with it for me, I think I was getting 14-15 with E85 vs. 17-18 with 87. So if it's road trip time, I go for the 87 instead.

I really hope the E85 isn't going to go up in price this summer, but I guess we'll see.

If you guys like to run it more power to you , I personally do not like E85 or any ethanol added to the fuel I run . I also believe it is actually hard on engines . The reduced cost is a wash with the loss of mileage. I think it is a waste of good moonshine , if I get figure out how to get the 15% out I would .
It really is a case of the fleecing of America. It costs and the consumption of energy to make it . including way to much water is sad.
As you guys know the 6.2 is not rated to run it anyhow.

Just a sec guys... I know you probably know this, but only the 5.4s are Flex Fuel. There are relatively few of us around compared to ya 6.2 fellers. You're not trying to run the stuff, right?

What am I missing here guys. At least the 6.2 with a stock tune is not rated to run this fue.

ya I don't know enough about any thing I just know I run e-30 in every thing and have done so for 10 years all my motors are fine running strong and it don't smell lol between dad bro and I we have a 2004 impala not flex has 160,000+ 1974 Pontiac lemans 260,000+ lawnmowers weed eaters 1996 evinrude boat motor old grain trucks and various others. I don't know what tarnish looks like if you run like I do obviously 10 + years its straight e-30 mileage on the impala 30+ 2008 town&country 81,000 19mpg and 25+ on long trips 100mph and still has go butt as Ive heard on this site. I farm and if it was not for ethanol I would not be buying a raptor or any vehicle so its good for the economy and its clean you can drink it... don't give me any crap about harvesting it either farmers feed the world with God's help as far as subsidise go the big oil has had them from the start and we don't need them any more?! whats that all about must be doing something right I just hope ethanol holds on if you want to see a depression take away a farmers money we buy the baulk of what is sold in the world and The Donald did a study on this farming is a major industry I'm done lol

Ditto, if it wasn't for ethanol in gasoline, I probably couldn't afford to buy my raptor either! Whether the people paying for it appreciate that fact is questionable.
My comments are based on non-flex fuel vehicles & the continuing push to incorporate a higher percentage of ethanol into our fuel supply. Trading oil sheiks for corn barons isn't a good trade off in my opinion! LOL

Wilson I did not mean to hit a nerve so I apologize if I offended you . I could not respect those who Farm more. It ****** me off on what the government has done along with some in the impact on our Farmers . Especially some of the inheritance Tax BS that has gone on. My grind is really based on some of the shit that has gone on in MN. Our Farmers who do feed the world are not treated fairly , if you were paid what you should be you would not have to be dependent on the revenue that Ethanol produces. Also I am all for our energy independent and alternate fuel sources. We should have a choice at the pump and I can tell you it is harder and harder to find fuel without it. These blended fuels do raise hell with engines , but they have done a better job now on designing motors for it . What also ****** me off is we do feed the world and if there was a disruption of our production it would impact those oversees tremendously . What should be going on is a Bushel ( or some quantity ) of Corn or beans for a barrel of oil . It makes me very sad to see multi generational farms not being able to keep going and to see more and more cooperate farming . So sorry again if I hit a nerve . Bottom line those who farm should be better taken care of and the fricken inheritance taxes should not apply on any assets related to a farm . For that fact the f'n inheritance tax should be abolished as all of that which is passed down has already been taxed and re-taxed.

I understand what your saying big oil is using ethanol to make money by selling high octane gas making it hi by adding ethanol it is cheaper for oil companies. yes I wish they would do a true study on ethanol. you should have the right to burn fossil fuels just as I should have the right to burn renewable fuels but the manufacturers say if you do you might be rejected on warranty clams. if a true study was done I think it would surprise all of us. we will have a 125 year farm in 12 years 5 generation thanks for the thumbs up

PS I put e-30 in the 4wheeler it gets 17+mpg riding hard coz she likes it that way

Well, ive been running E85 for the last 2 weeks and I got to say I like it!!! Truck runs great, exhaust smells great, and for me since I drive very little its cheaper... If only there were a place closer to get it... Oh well...

Did you return your truck tune back to stock or are you running it with the 5star tune on?
