I suggest you read these threads carefully and thoroughly:

http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f11/bedrug-vs-bedtred-1568/

Also, since you decided to add the dealer drop in liner, I am going to assume that you are not going to be a hardcore hauler. Therefore, I would suggest either the BedRug or BedTred because not only will either product be more protective than the dealer drop in crap, but it is also not permanent (which would mean that there is basically no risk of a bad Line-X prep job).

Personally, I chose BedTred after receiving samples of both BedTred and BedRug. I then took a hammer and abused the crap out of both samples on a block of wood. Each and everytime, the BedTred showed the least amount of indentures on the block of wood. It also held up better than the BedRug because the BedRug had indentures in it that still has not come back. Another thing is that the BedRug started having small holes in it due to the square edge of the hammer.

I also liked the fact that BedTred does not soak any liquids. BedRug does not absorb liquids either, but it does allow liquids to flow through it.

I have had my BedTred for about a year and I love it. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose BedTred every single time.

Bedrug and Bedtred are certainly functional to a certain degree. I think Bedtred is actually rather flimsy for the price. You don't get a choice of colors though, I can't imagine putting a Bedrug or Bedtred in a Blue Flame Raptor.

I'll have to disagree. BedTred is cheaper than BedRug and from my experience BedTred is more durable.

From my experience, the drop in not only grinds paint away, it traps moisture. Bare metal and trapped moisture are not a great combination.

The ironic part is for the spray in process, as I understand it, they grind the paint away for increased adherence. I just think it's funny that we're trying to avoid the paint wearing by grinding it off! :wizhuh:

LineX with a bed mat .. best of both worlds. You get protection from the LineX and the bed mat is soft if you need to haul fragile items. And both items clean easily:

this is what i do on every truck. i catch alot of heat for being the Line-X guy and having a bedmat, but its nice to be able to shove pallets in the bed and not have to be careful about doing it. ive actually switched from a bedmat recently to the weathertech tech liner. i love this thing. its like having a floormat in the bed of the truck. i can pick it up, and shake it out, and my bed is clean all over again. my Line-X is extremely durable, but using a mat on top just helps keep the wear and tear off the liner. i can pick up the mat, and my liner is brand new!

Actually, that's not the case. The goal is just to scuff the surface of the paint, the goal is not to grind off the paint.

Anyone have the factory spray in liner? good? bad? I took that option since the drop in ones have always had a bad rap`

An aftermarket spray-on is generally a better deal, here's why:

Warranty: Factory - 3 years/36K miles ; Aftermarket - Lifetime
Repair: Truck dealer can't fix it or can't fix it with the original product ; Aftermarket can in both cases
Thickness: Factory is about 60 to 70 mils on the bed ; Aftermarket is 125 mils (as is the case with LINE-X)
Colors: Factory - black only ; Aftermarket - Some brands offer any color
Fading: Factory - product is aromatic and will fade ; Aftermarket - Some brands offer non-fading bedliners
Price: Factory price is about the same as an aftermarket standard black bedliner

I didn't want to spend the extra money when I bought my truck, so I have nothing back there right now and I have been scratching the crap out of it, knowing that I am going to eventually put a line x in. After about 6 months, I am really starting to consider putting one in now though.
