My truck came with the stock drop in liner. I dont have any experience with the plastic liners and have had Line-X on my other truck since it was new. So question is, is the stock drop in any good? any cons of having one in vs Line-X? The main thing that goes back there is my dirt bikes, and then the occasional furniture and building supplies.

I had a drop in liner for 3 years and it rubbed of a lot of the paint under it.
Took it off and had the bed Line-X and wow big difference.
Don't get me wrong the drop in worked great but it will do a number on the paint below it.

We have had various drop in liners on our trucks...I think back to the Durraliner, and other knock offs..the just don't hold up as well as the Line-X, they scratch, get some moisture on them and they a slippery...

The liners tend to pull up over time and the heat and cold can cause deformations...

Go Line-X

How do you plan to use the bed?

No matter what you answer, I would dump the plastic liner. If for no other reason that it does kill the paint underneath (as has already been mentioned) whether your using it or not.

If you plan to hard use your bed, then LineX all the way for sure. IMHO nothing beats it when it comes to work truck type applications; hauling gravel, wood, steel, chemicals, dirt, etc etc etc...

On the other hand, if you don't plan to haul that heavy duty kind of stuff all the time, and instead want to use your truck for occasional work stuffs, as well as haul crap like a TV or furniture or whatever else has a finish you care about, IMHO nothing beats a BedRug.

I've had LineX on my personal trucks in the past (not the Raptor) and we have it on our work trucks and it flat rocks. Seriously, other than fading over time due sun exposure, there was nothing I could do to the stuff to hurt it.

But I don't tend to use the Raptor for the seriously dirty/hard use stuff, and I do tend to use it for stuff like hauling groceries, household crap, camping gear... and for that the BedRug is by far the best solution. Where the LineX is super abrasive, the BedRug is, well, rug. It grips the stuff really well, and it doesn't mar any surfaces or wear holes in any fabrics or scratch up whatever.

And in a pinch the BedRug can haul the nasty stuff too. It just takes a while to clean up after (lots of high pressure water).

So, yeah, how do you plan to use the Raptor? The answer to that will probably also answer your original question. Hope that helps!

Don't forget about the BedTred from the makers of BedRug. It's a drop-in similar to the Bedrug, but it's got a lot more traction for easier cleaning. I'm looking at a BedTred pretty hard myself...going to be under some type of Roll-up cover.

Was thinking that reading BigJ's post. I went with Bedtred, because I like to hunt, and it's not uncommon for me to throw a bloody animal in the bed. I didn't want to scrub blood out of the bedrug. The bedtred has been the perfect solution for me thus far, and it's not permanent. I could still get LineX later on.

i have the factory bed drop-in and previously i would be the first person to say ditch it and get a bed coating done. my new opinion is that the factory ford drop-in bed liner fits very well and looks attractive. i plan on using it for as long as possible and then if someday it looks tired I will just get the bed Line-X'd. any associated damage/paint wear the drop in caused is a non-issue if Line-X is going over the top anyway....
