Driver side rear shock OEM shock leak?

Hey guys before my Monday appointment to have the dreaded clunk looked at I thoughtimage.jpg. I would take a look at the rear shocks and I found this on the driver side rear is it supposed to look like this the other side is completely clean?

Looks like the shaft is pitted which caused tears in the seal causing the leak.

Trey pal thanks for response bought the truck used less than 3500'miles ago . So your opinion is that it is in fact leaking ? Also looks as if steering rack is going out with photo shown above I have esp premium wondering if I should just trade this one in. With the amount of issues it's had in less than 4000 miles

It is weeping and will get worse. Lift the truck and rub the shat, see if you feel a pit or nick. FYI it seems the right rear will show up first. Wipe all build up off as that will F the seal up worse as it has sticky oil with contaminates in it and you could start messing up bushings and end blocks.

The rack doesn't have any fluid to leak it just has grease in it. Just a torn boot probably.

There is definitely sone power steering like fluid coming out from the tears in
The boot from somewhere . See how wet the boot is ?
