I just bought a 2020 Raptor. On my way from the dealership to my home, the truck died when I stopped for a stop sign. A message displayed - “drive control malfunction service required.” I restarted the truck, got it going about 3 blocks, and the message reappeared again. The truck did not stall the second time the message appeared.

The truck only has 119 miles. WTH ?!? I did a search and saw at least two people with the same error message - but no mention of truck stalling. Any ideas what’s going on? I hope I didn’t buy a lemon.

Congratulations

That sure is a lot of miles for a brand new truck off the dealers lot.
I'm guessing it went out on a lot of joy rides.
You could try a battery disconnect for about 15+ minutes to allow the PCM start a brand new learning cycle.
But make sure you get this documented at the dealer right away just in case they hurt the truck with joy rides.

Good luck

It only had 29 or 59 I think when I got it. The 119 was after I drove it home.

Made appointment with dealer. This is the most expensive vehicle I ever had, hopefully it’s not going to be a problematic one.

Yeah, Drive control DTC isn’t going away with a battery reset. Probably a bum connection or sensor.

I was suggesting to do a clean drive cycle incase all the values were way off in the predictive table by people driving it all kinds of stupid ways.
But apparently it had a lot less miles, so it's something else of course.

STOP THIS ****

No body hurt his truck with "joy rides". Don't ruin the guys day with nonsense about his brand new truck.

Truth is...YOU have no freakin clue why there are 119 miles on his truck. Was it pulled for extra QA? Did the dealer use it in a parade? Has it been on the lot for 5 months and had 10 10 mile test drives?

No dealer is going to let a "joy ride" happen on a $75k raptor.

I can only go by what the OP stated, he said 119 miles.
And if you think all salesmen won't let you light up a Raptor for a commission your clueless!!!
And if you read my second comment you wouldn't need to comment on mine.
Have a great day!

It just happened again. Car stalled. Placed transmission in park and it restarted. I wonder if it’s related to the auto start system? As soon as it happened the warning message appeared again. I tried changing drive modes after acknowledging the message, and nothing happened.

Every time my engine stalled I was either at a full stop or near a full stop.

Too bad my dealer can’t fit me in until Friday to diagnose the issue.
