I agree with everyone else and it's the damn Auto Start/Stop "Feature" ********. There is currently no way to fully disable this feature. I have quickly developed a new "habit" of getting in the truck, pushing the Start button and then immediately pressing the Auto Start/Stop Disable button (just to the right of the Hazards) high center console every time I get in.

It's a stupid pain in the ass, but I can't stand the Start/Stop. I'm hopeful that the Ford Performance "Tune" that has been hinted at in the forum will be available for purchase before too long and that it will have this feature permanently disabled as part of the tune.

It'd be worth the $300-$500 for the tune just for that to me!

dtt255, have you found a way of permanently disabling the Auto Start/Stop? Because I've searched high and low and couldn't find a way. Have to hit that damn button each time.

You can disable it in your settings menu without pushing the dash button.

Seems like some of our older buyers need to ask their 8 year old's for help on this instead of rewiring it.

Sorry Kansan, from my experiments and further research on the Web, the "Auto Engine Off" check box you reference is only for shutting the car off if you leave without turning off the truck and walk away with the FOB.

This does not seem to defeat that damn Auto Stop/Start "feature" and you either have to use the jumper wire technique or press the defeat button on the center console each time you get in the truck.

I may be wrong (I did not enlist the aide of an 8-year-old), but I still couldn't get the Auto Stop/Start to be defeated every time with your method.

Hmmmm.... I clicked that box off and drove around for a day without it shutting off once. Maybe the conditions weren't right for it to auto-shut off? Further research required.

In the cars I've had it on I didn't think it was that big of a deal but everyone seems to hate it. Just curious why?

Does it turn off when you change to performance drive modes?

In Houston, the heat and humidity is killer. Even this week between Christmas and New Year's it was 86 degrees and near 100% humidity.

With the Auto Stop/Start "active" at a stop light, when the engine shuts off, while the A/C stays on and the blower still goes, there is a noticeable decrease in the conditioned air. This is just one reason.

As mentioned previously, the fact that the Power Assisted Steering is deactivated as well is not a good feeling either.

I just think it is a "feature" that the OWNER of the vehicle should have the option of turning on or off - at least semi permanently. I shouldn't be forced to defeat this government imposed "feature" every time I turn on MY vehicle. A simple toggle somewhere in the Settings would have done the trick, and 90% of the owners of F150s would probably have left it on and been fine with it.

I've heard several people mention the loss of the power steering. I'm not sure why this is a big deal when the vehicle is stopped. Why do you need p/s while stopped at a light?
Yes, I can probably come up with a few edge cases where I might want p/s at a stop light. I think I can hit the button on the dash in those unusual conditions.
I can definitely see the loss of A/C at a long light in the south in the summer might be an issue, but the p/s issue confuses me.

But once you lift your foot off the brake the engine starts and everything comes back. So why would you need power assisted steering while stopped at a light?

Seems like everyone is just nit picking new technology
