The solution:

Get it at Home Depot for around $20 for 15ft. Easy fix with plenty leftover if you need to replace it.

There is an alternative to the abrasive stairstep tape. Some auto parts stores (my local Auto Zone, for example) carry stick-on rubber automotive door sill protectors. The one's I have seen come in a tire tread pattern.

My 2012 doesn't have them either. I'm considering getting my Linex guy to apply a strip where the plastic cover would have been. I noticed the lack of them shortly after I brought mine home.

I had mine covered in clear bra material. Looks great, and was much cheaper than 4 of the factory pieces.

I covered mine this morning.

Found this at Pep Boys, its intended to be a stick on protector for the rocker panels.

I measured and cut length to match the factory panels.

Then laid it in and used an exacto to trim the bottom.

Cost about $15 and took about an hour to do all 4 doors.
