Does tire rotation require re-balance and front end alignment?

Right. I'm guessing most of the guys doing their own rotations don't incorporate the spare.

The first mod is to add TPMS to the spare and get it balanced. Same for second spare.

Then at that point you have no choice but to use the spare. I have had flats and I immediately plug them so the spare sees maybe a few miles and then it becomes the spare again.

But if I have a tire damaged and it has let's say 20K miles then I buy 2 new tires.

What do you do when you lose a 5k old tire to damage? Replace all 4? IMO you are over estimating the issue of a 5k mile tread depth difference but different strokes for different folks.

It is a good idea to balance the tires every time they are rotated, but not required.

It is a good idea to check the alignment every time they are rotated, then align as needed, but not required.

You got "sold". An uneducated consumer is a salesman's dream. (service advisers are salesmen too)

You will know if your truck needs work. If the car vibrates at highway speeds, or shows signs of weird tire wear it is time for balancing. If the car pulls left or right on the highway, or shows signs of weird tire wear it is time for an alignment.

Go to your local National Tire and Battery. Buy their 3 year alignment deal. It is like $150, and any time you want for the next 3 years, have your alignment done. I usually do it every summer. Shops like that do free balancing for the life of the tire if you buy the tires from them.

My 2018 has 16,*** miles on it. i have personally rotated the tires (including spare) 3x now, and changed the oil 3x. In 10 months, i have not visited the dealer since I bought my truck. Do everything you can yourself and come here to ask questions. you won't get "sold" like that anymore.

I actually work at a tire store and have had many comebacks with complaints of shaking after tires were rotated. We almost always balance the tires during rotation. The alignment sell is a different story...

I fully agree. Unless you are off-roading or have vibration, pulling, or tire wear issues, the alignment shouldn't be necessary. As for balancing, the stock tires do frequently need to be rebalanced. I usually have at least two tires that get rebalanced when I rotate every 5K miles. I bought my tires at a local tire shop who does the tire rotation and road force balancing for free on tires bought there, so I promise you they are not doing the rebalancing just for the heck of it.

My father in law was telling me about these. They use them in their Semi tractors tires. Never heard heard of it before that.

I rotate the tires every 5,000 miles. The dealer told me that balancing and alignment are not necessary, 1st that they don't have the equipment to balance the tires, I have to take it to an off road shop for that and 2nd the alignment is factory set and the raptor never needs an alignment due to the sophisticated suspension system it has. That's what the dealer told me.
