After lurking on this forum for a couple of months researching everything I can about the Raptor, I have decided what I want and ready to make an order. I’m now finding how difficult that actually is in Colorado.

I have been emailing the sales managers at multiple local (Denver/Steamboat) dealers with my build sheet saying I’m ready to place an order. Multiple places haven’t even bothered to get back to me, and those that have ultimately go dark once I say I won’t pay over MSRP.

I can’t believe how difficult it is to buy this truck! Damn you Ford, just take my ******* money!!!

Anyone else run into this? I’m at the point of contacting out of state dealers. I was hoping to keep it local to do a trade in and get the tax break. My trade in is valued at around 70k so the tax savings is a decent amount.

I second the vote to go out of state. I live in Ca and bought from TX. There are lots of great dealers in the Houston area that will sell 19s at sticker and 18s well under.

Good luck!

yup. Probably 90% of us have had to hear the “ADM BS” pitch. Even when you do your homework, shop around, you are going to get your chain yanked if you are shopping for a Raptor - guaranteed.

shop out of state, secure a deal, have the truck delivered locally - covered by the destination charge if you order. You need to coordinate with the local dealer, obviously.

get a legit offer and shop it locally. I’ve not been successful at this, my experience has been that dealers who are trying to get ADM over MSRP for the Raptor are convinced they will get it for at least the first year and even when that shiny Raptor is 15 months old, they will not come off it. And to be fair, there are some people paying it. I’ve seen between 2 and 25k over MSRP being asked. Most I’ve heard anyone fess up to was paying $10k over, and that was on the internet... so it has to be true, right ? :)

find a deal from one of the many Stealers hawking their wares here on FRF.

Buying service - some banks, credit unions, etc. offer pre-negotiated prices, but the local dealer who was recommended by my credit union bluntly said, that’s nice, but we won’t honor that - $10k over on any Raptor. I even had an MSRP offer in hand from another dealer in the state. The sale mangler told me to go buy it. So I did.

If you buy out of state, you can also fly off / drive back.

Lots of options, it’s just going to take some work.
I suggest that unless you know someone with juice at the stealership, ignore all urban and high volume suburban dealers. Focus on the smaller, advertised as family type stealers.

good luck.

I was in the same boat. I live in Oregon and ordered mine from a dealer in Tennessee.

Dealers are still charging markups over here on the west coast. After a year and a half of going to various dealerships and not even finding one willing to do an MSRP deal, I decided to go out of state. Was able to do an MSRP deal on a custom order and my truck will be delivered straight from the factory to a local dealer 5 miles from my house.

My truck is being built as we speak and I should be taking delivery of it in early March

I have a place in Steamboat so I’ve been emailing with the sales manager at the local family owned dealer there. I’m getting communication but get nowhere on deal.

Going out of state may be appealing depending on the deal. In CO you don’t pay tax on the trade in value. With my trade in near 70k, that would save me approx 5500 in taxes to trade in my vehicle with the deal.

The self proclaimed largest dealer for Raptors in CO said they charge 5k ADM. After some back and forth they said they’d get “near MSRP”. I told them flat out I won’t pay ADM, purely out of principle. Never heard back from them. That’s the best I’ve found in CO so far.

I live in Fort Collins and could not find a dealer in state that would sell at MSRP. I ended up custom ordering from a dealer in Iowa that was great to work with and I did not pay any markup. Let me know if you want his contact information.
