Difficult Decision

So I just got a 2019 Raptor two months ago. I had it for 500 miles and it burned to the ground. The only thing left was the frame. Now for the difficult decision... I was lucky enough to find a 2022 801A that someone backed out on and it is done with the build and now waiting on shipping. But for the same amount of money I have found a 2019 Shelby Raptor with 20,000 miles. Normally it would be a no brainer to go with the 2022, but it doesnt have the tailgate step, and I fell in love with that. Any thoughts or opinions? Lucky for me my insurance had a feature that pays me an additional 20% of actual cash value to the payout, so that justifies either truck.

Go with New... the Shelby name doesn't hold value for trade in later; if you were trade.

Very first time out in the country with it and it got stuck in a little marsh spot. Im so used to always having a winch that I broke the first rule and that was to head out without another vehicle. My guess is that the cats heated up and caught the grass on fire. I actually walked away to get my Jeep out there to give it a tug. Texas dry brush is absolutely no joke, it ignites just like flash paper, only it burns hotter and longer. Man, sorry that happened.

No, the fact that it was a wet marsh means zip if you’re wondering. I have a buddy who lit a --rock quarry-- on fire with the dragon’s breath shotgun round. It rained profusely the night before, it was a mud bog to get in there, but when the RO’s came over to help extinguish, they indicated the previous rain was a month or more back.

I posted the story on page one with the photos. Not sure why they didnt post till just now. I probably didnt hit post properly. Sorry.

My first thought was the cats must of caught the brush on fire, but as I read reply after reply I was like hmm? No answer means it must of been insurance fraud. Had me going for a few, lol! And if Gen 3 wasn’t the obvious choice.

I typically don't leave $60,000+ of anything around until the next day.

I would go with the Gen 3 when you get your insurance check

I think it is unanimous. The 2022 will be the way to go. I guess with the extra money I am getting I can add the roll bar. I just wish it wasnt such a bear to add a winch. But I looked up the ones that fit into the trailer hitch. We used those in the fire dept I was with.

Gen 3 because... warranties, nicer upgrades. The Shelby only has the advantage of more power.

If it’s a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) the warranty will be extended to 100k (so approximately 80k). If warranty is on your mind I think the CPO’s have a better warranty. You will definitely have something not everyone has. Actually, saw one today at the carwash; very sexy.

However, like everyone else above suggested… a ‘22 would be very nice. You’ll be the only one ever in the driver seat. It’s new all the war around. And you get a warranty; not as long, but a warranty nonetheless.

At the end of the day - I'd rather have a warranty, I just got burned too much back in the day Thousands of hard earned fake money blown (federal reserve note). Lol.
