Wait. Those were seven dots.
Very significant, that.
Spiritual, even.
We should be open to diversity, gentlemen.

Hey Pirate, I got the canister purge valve on the engine ticking loudly, no Check Eng. light. Should I get a new one or just wait til it throws a light? Ford parts wants $60 for a new one.

Yeah just order it and put it on. They click and go bad but sometimes never ever throw the light.

The rear end doesn't need additive because it has the eletric locker and not the limited slip.

I don't mean to be purposely contrary, Pirate, but why does the manual call for the additive if it's unnecessary? The requirement for the additive is in the Raptor Supplement for the 2011 models, and they have the electric locker. I personally don't care WHY the additive is required, only WHETHER it is required. You are in effect saying that the factor manual pertaining to the Raptor is wrong.

Hey Rug, nothing about adding a friction modifier in the '10 manual. Just says "Motorcraft SAE 75w-140 rear synthetic axle lubricant".

Hmmm. Is the post Humvee put up in post 15 the way it's worded? Because that one Humvee posted says for 8.8 trac lock at the end which the rear axle in the raptor is not an 8.8 nor does it use a trac loc. It makes no sense to use friction modifier in the rear diff. The modifier is for the clutch material in the limited slip type lockers and actually allows the clutches to slip easier. With out it, the limited slip will chatter in turns and eccelerate clutch wear. The e lockers have no clutches.

Personally I'd probably skip it in mine, but you will find most aftermarket synthetic diff fluids sold at parts stores already have the friction modifier blended in them.
