How well is the black finish holding up?
Is it prone to chipping?
Is it easy to clean with just a pressure washer?
I don't mind paying for quality, as long as it is durable.

I have the same one as the OP, been on the truck for 2.5 years. Not one drop of water in the bed. The seals are made of the same material as your door seals. I don't understand why the OP used caulk. I installed it by myself, and was very careful about aligning it, assemble and then clamp it down. It weighs in at about 90 pounds. If you unclamp it then two people can take the whole thing off. The videos on the website are really good at showing the functionality.

These are American made in middle PA. My wife's parents live about 20 minutes from one of the Leer manufacturing plants, in Western PA. When i go out there, I get overwhelmingly positive feedback on my diamondback. In fact, half the questions about my truck start with "that is an awesome cover"

They say 400 pounds on top, but that is 200 on each panel. I never contemplated putting my spare on top, but I have hauled 200 pounds of non metal on top with no scratches - this is a line-ex coated cover and seems indestructible to me.

I have not done much other than high speeds on gravel roads, so I don't know how well this cover would stay on bouncing around on a desert run, but I suspect it would be no worse than a BAC or rollover cover

Thanks for that good feedback. Mine is supposed to ship out from PA on October 3rd, so hopefully I can get it installed the following week.

Jeff, you will not be disappointed with the quality. I paid about the same and no regrets, I prefer this look to any of the folding covers. Plus you really can haul things on top with the tie down cleats. the high end cover is almost 140 pounds and that additional weight concerned me, considering there is an 800 pound weight limit for our beds.

No chips, scuffs, or anything. The locking mechanism is fine, but sometimes I have to lower the tailgate to turn the lever to raise the back panel. Be warned about the install instructions. My instruction manual said to tighten the C clamp bolts to 40 pounds of torque. I could tell this was too much during my install and ended up shearing two of the 4 bolts and C clamps. I could see a bolt, but the clamps sheared as well. Turns out it should only have been to 15 pounds, the factory sent me 4 new C clamps and bolts, but I am not sure they corrected the install manual

If the bolts had not sheared off, I might have lost the whole cover while driving, which might have killed someone behind me, especially a biker. If I were you, ask them for an extra set of C clamps and bolts in case one breaks while off roading.

Good idea.
I won't haul anything on top of it. I have another pickup for hauling. This one is for fun, and I travel a lot, and need to secure stuff in the bed. I just wanted the best-looking cover, as most look cheap and flimsy.

I agree on the others looking cheap and flimsy. Or bright and shiny plastic like the Leer shell caps. The shiny shell covers are pure street queen but that is only my opinion. You can walk on these, but stand with legs apart - dont put your feet together and jump up and down.

I have one- the HD black LineX version... on my Terrain 2013 SuperCrew. Looks great. High quality. Can't see it chipping. No leakage in nearly a year of use. I'm not very handy and had difficulty installing and removing. Most wouldn't have an issue. The last time I removed it, I had trouble separating the back flap from the center and when I went to put it on again, I noticed that the center had bent/warped from the torque I put on it trying to remove it. I'm not sure what happened. I haven't had a chance to call the factory yet.

The other problem I had was entirely my fault... went off road and didn't tighten down the claps enough and the whole unit gradually slipped backward. We were really bouncing around.

I'd still recommend the product. I doubt the problems I had would be typical.
