And that's the thing. If you frequently haul stuff that is taller than the cap, then this is not the one for you. There are far better caps out there that roll up / fold up / remove and store easier than this one for.... and for ALOT less $$$. This one just fits me perfectly as i have access to a company vehicle when I need to haul tall stuff around. Most stuff I move around on a regular basis can fit inside this cover.

How well is the black finish holding up?
Is it prone to chipping?
Is it easy to clean with just a pressure washer?
I don't mind paying for quality, as long as it is durable.

That looks great on a black Raptor...suits the aggressive look of our trucks perfectly.

Very satisfied so far.... No chips or scratches.... that being said, I am pretty easy with it.... I do not haul items on top of the cover like the manufacturer say it is capable of, so I can't tell you how the LineX finish will hold up transporting cargo/atv's/etc. on top...... but for everyday use, it is doing great.... It functions properly, (front and rear hatches), and best of all...100% waterproof. no leaks....even after the hardest downpour, it has been bone dry.

I did caulk the top first 6 inches in between the narrow space where the front of the bed and truck meet.... it was a tight fit, but I just squeezed some black exterior waterproofing caulk, (my truck is black), into my hand and smoothed over every seam I could see and feel. I used 2 tubes and you can't even see where I applied it.... those seams, (from what the local Truck and Trailer USA installer told me), are where a lot of water finds a way into your bed....

As far as looks, I just run mine through the car wash and the cover always comes clean. Still has the shine it did from day one. They spray their lids using the gloss premium LineX. I never asked if they can do a flat black, (for those guys who don't like the gloss look).

This cover gives the truck an awesome look. 100% satisfied.... haven't seen one in person on another raptor yet.... I'm guessing that's b/c .... 1.) they are not practical for ppl who frequently haul tall loads b/c it does take a few minutes to take the cover pieces off..... and 2.) these are not cheap.

How does it compare price-wise to a hard tonneau with factory matched paint?

Thanks for that info. I have a 3/4 ton older truck for most of my hauling. The Raptor does light-duty hauling, like chicken feed and such, but is mostly just for my extreme pleasure driving it. I will be ordering the black SE model today. I appreciate your help on this. I looked for a dealer around here, but found none, so will just mail-order and install it myself. I found a place with pretty good price, around $1350 shipped to my home in Tennessee.

That price sounds better than what I paid... I ordered through the manufacturer and installed it in my driveway..... I think it was about a 1 month lead time until delivery to chattanooga, tn ....the supplied instructions were spot on.... installation was a breeze with two people.... I did order (and had the manufacturer install) 4 extra cleats which make it look much better, IMO ..... you are going to love the compliments you get on this cover every time you stop for gas.... with 10mpg that's a lot ....

I dunno..... I've never priced a painted hard cover.... the only hard cover I have ever had was an Undercover Classic which comes black from the factory....it was about 850.00 plus tax..... this one was about 1,600.00 tax included. but like most ppl who buy raptors, I was looking for something that gives an awesome look to it and wasn't what everyone else had...... I have yet to see another raptor in chattanooga with a diamondback cover....

I ordered it from Tonneau Covers World, and did it through their chat box online. Totaled to exactly $1339, for the black SE delivered to Stewart County, Tennessee, which is about 65 miles NW of Nashville. My mileage is a bit better than 10 MPG, at 14.2 average so far, according to the truck's computer, with almost 15,000 miles so far. I do very little town driving. I look forward to receiving the cover, and thanks for your help in selecting it.
