I have a roush rear exhaust and I pull the tips off when I wheel on anything unknown or technical. Dramatic improvement, and no chance of pinching it at extreme angle. The tow hitch on the other hand..

I need a new rear bumper.. OEM is mall spec not mil spec.

Once upon a time, Ford Performance engineers designed created a Gen 2 Raptor. They built a very nice exhaust that dumped near the quarter panel just behind the wheel, like the old gen 1. But the evil marketeers and vehicle designers came and said "HEY THATS NOT COOL ENOUGH, I MEAN LOOK AT RAM!" Lets put exhaust tips out the back and have them be lower than the bumper! There was much fighting about this topic, and the engineers even countered with "IF YOU WANT COOL, PUT A V8 in it!" but the marketers where like "yeah.... about that, it doesn't fit the new Ford fuel marketing strategy." In the end there was an epic battle, but the engineers lost, and they quit and moved to another company that sold v8s. The End.

That's the story I tell my daughter at night. She gets it.

Oh, wait. We're idiots.

The lowest point on the rear is the hitch, which is standard on the Raptor and not the FX4. That's why the difference. Has nothing to do with the tailpipes.

Are the exhaust tips welded to the exhaust? If they're just attached with screws then the best solution might be to just take them off if you're worried about it.

Glad somebody beat me to it. The Gen 2, unsurprisingly, has better numbers than the Gen 1.

I think the point isn't that other F150s have a better clearance, but that the placement of the exhaust allows it to be damage prior to the ground hitting the hitch or bumper. With my stock Gen 1 Raptor i'd just scrape the hitch and bumper, both of which are fully functional after a good grinding of the earth, and unless you looked underneath the bumper there wasn't really any damage to be seen. With these GEN 2 TIP locations, when you scrap them against something they bend, limiting air flow, and just look terrible. I'ts a classic case of 'good looks" over function.

Yeah, but put a hitch in and you're just fine. Several guys have done this; got one in the back for when I go crawling. Get the bets of both worlds.

OMG! Give me your rear bumper now! That's beautiful. Does it work with the OEM spare location? I think i'm just going to cut and dump them right after the OEM muffler.
