Anyone know why the Departure Angle on the Raptor is the least amongst all other models? Is it the exhaust coming out the back instead of the side behind the tire?

Super Crew 5.5' 4X4: 26.0 degrees
Super Crew Raptor: 23 degrees

There isn't a direct comparison for the Scab but it's lesser degree than the 6.5' and 8' bed.

Noticed that and was wondering the same thing... good question.

Exhaust comes out the rear. Looks cool but not the best idea. Even on the Gen1 coming out behind the passenger rear, it would get dragged. Most going off-road would cut it over the axle. I see you having to cut the Gen2 to get a little better angle too.

I managed to smash my exhaust tips the first time out. It was definitely a 'must do' mod to cut the tips back.

I smashed mine, now I do an axle dump and zero problems.

Honestly, if you still have the tips and do off-road, I'd cut it now before you smash it on the trail. They're impossible to bend back into shape and once smashed enough you can have some terrible air flow.

Yeah unless it's gonna be a mall crawler it's worth doing the day you buy it. Costs like $20 maybe to get it done.

So exactly where do you recommend cutting the exhaust ?
1. Cut it and route it out just in front of the rear tires ?
2. Cut it and route it out just behind the rear tires ?
3. Cut it and let it end in a straight pipe just ahead of the rear axle ?
4. Cut it and let it end in a straight pipe just behind the rear axle ?

Install and Dirty Deeds exhaust is my recommendation. Or another brand that dumps out in front of the rear wheel.......

Doing the trig, a 26° departure and 49.1" overhang on the FX4 5.5 SuperCrew puts the tail at 23.95" off the ground.

For the Raptor @ 23° and 48.8" overhang, it's 20.71".

That means that the Raptor tailpipes are 3.24" lower than anything on the rear of the FX4. Factor in that the Raptor sits 0.6" higher, that would mean that the tailpipe actually sits 3.84" lower than the FX4 bumper.

Maybe? Seems wrong considering the different bumpers.

Backing out the 3.84", should you chop off the tailpipes, you'd get a 26.7° departure. It's still no Rubicon.
