I'd get the 801a for Sync3 and a few other goodies that will help resale value.
Oh yea and I would get the leather interior and then install Carhartt seat covers over them to help with the heat and wear issues - again - this will help your resale value down the road.

Well, that's what I did anyway...

good input! that is what I did with my vette! I had to put the covers on

Can you get remote start with what you want? Nice to have it cooled off in the summer heat before you get in.

Yes I would get remote start installed at some point.

I have been looking to buy a raptor for a few years now and I think I am ready to sell the corvette and get into a raptor!! Right now I have a modded 2011 vette that I will be selling to purchase the raptor, but before I do I wanted input and feedback from other raptor owners.

1) I think the truck at its base 800A model is exactly what I need and dont necessarily need the additional bells and whistles. What options are/are not worth the money? Im in AZ so want to avoid leather if at all possible. This will be a daily driver and wont see towing unless its a random weekend to bring quads or a boat somewhere.

2) Is there any talks that 2019 will be a better year for the raptor? I ask because I dont want to buy a new truck when the following year something drastic changes. Similar to how the G1 raptor went from a 5.4 to a 6.2 engine.

3) I would also like feedback on driving and having this as a daily driver. I test drove the G1 (will be test driving the G2 soon) and I remember it being wider but wasnt able to drive it through parking lots, make u-turns, drive during rush hour, etc.

PLEASE do not turn this into a pissing match! I just want some helpful feedback and input.

Thank you,

Michael

Ok, first off...I think that whatever Raptor you buy, whether Gen 1 or Gen 2, you will enjoy the truck...Cause the truck IS awesome!

But here is my opinion (FWIW) to your question from a former all Chevy guy and one who has had 6 Vettes (4 Z06s):

EVERY single time I have bought a "lower optioned" vehicle, even a nice one, I always wished I had loaded it up with all the "unneeded stuff" that once you have, you don't ever want to be without! (higher resale too)

So for me, and again IMHO, I would save up until you can get the "full-meal-deal"...You will love the tech package, adaptive cruise...and leather.

Regarding future model improvements...probably gonna happen, always does, and you can bet that Ford, like all other car makers, have a strategic plan that INCLUDES minor to major model-year improvements to spike and encourage sales...So yes, changes are coming (at least minor ones in the next couple years for the Raptor...I'm also betting against a V8 until at least Gen 3)

BUT, if you spend life waiting for the next better "thing" you will never get anything...Something better will always happen... So buy what you like now, MOD IT, and "enjoy the ride"

Lastly, I DD my Raptor, and after a couple week adjustment from "driving on the ground" with the Vette, the Raptor will feel right at home; with a more challenging parking issue for sure... but no worse than any other truck. Besides, if you are the "typical" Vette owner... you always park away from everyone else anyway... so, with the Raptor, you all set!

Good Luck with the decision...

I have to agree with the extra options. I too in the past have bought cars without a certain option, and end up missing it and kicking myself. Many of the options are actually very useful, adaptive cruise is great, and if you never had it you won't know, but if you have it, you won't want to do without, same thing goes for the rain sensing wipers, just one of those features that saves you all the guessing work.

I do think the graphics are a rip off and waste of money, for close to 3K, I could probably wrap the entire truck. And i'm sure the graphics have part numbers that you can buy and install yourself, correct me someone if i'm wrong

Get the tailgate step. It's a few hundred bucks, and it's awesome. I'd also get whatever package is required for the 360 camera - I would NOT want to be without that.

As to question #2...

This truck holds its value very well. If they decide to put in a V8 in 2020 or later, or perhaps some other improvement that you really must have, then trade up to the new one.

New Raptor is due in 2022 and we will be lucky if it has a "manly" 4-cylinder hybrid instead of the more pedestrian 3-cylinder eco model. But if it puts out 500+ hp and gets to 60 in under 5 seconds all while doing 20+ mpg city, who cares? By then they'll have perfected the "augmentation" and that will be our new normal.

I appreciate this feedback and good to hear from a fellow vette owner! my first vette had all the bells and whistles with HUD/heated seats, etc. and my current one has nothing mainly because I wanted to use the extra money so I could have H/C/I/E and 500 whp ;) But honestly I dont even miss/notice the options that I had in my first vette. looking at all the options and what is available, I really dont NEED everything and I dont see myself putting in extra $$$ for all of that. However, I will probably go with the SYNC3 / 801A option and consider the 360 camera and the differential.

haha yes I will continue to park far away from everyone and everything!! You are right about the fact that there will always be something different, but I just wanted to make sure that no MAJOR changes were coming soon.

I really appreciate your feedback!!

I'm thinking of a similar build to you as well. The 800A is just a little too spartan for me given it will be my daily, but on the other hand don't think I need all the 802A features. I'd also note that leather cleans easier when dirty, which is a consideration off-roading. I'm also going SCAB since I don't have a family / tow much, and the slightly shorter length will be marginally easier to daily in a suburban area

I'd also do the 360 camera (which requires the upgraded mirrors + BLIS) if alone just for ease of parking
