What an ass you must be. Why don't you just admit you are Nick The **** from Apicella? You just happened to join TODAY. You just happen to only have 3 posts total, ALL in this thread. You just happen to be a fanboy for New York Nick. What a douchenozzle you must be. Are you THAT full of yourself? :manos: Like I said, what a ****. You did an awesome job of proving my point. If you're not him, and you are actually enough of a ******** that you joined this site just to post in this thread, that has to be one of the lamest things I've heard in a long time. I'm done here, not worth my time, even though according to you the entire internet is buzzing about this thread! What a joke you and your **** friends are.

WTF dude. You are acting like a **** yourself dude. He did not call you any names or anything. I searched his name on F-150 forums and he is from arizona and seems pretty active on those forums in the audio section.

Dude, what is your deal? I know Jacob and I know Nick. They are not the same person. They live in different parts of the country. Jacob doesn’t even work in car audio. He is a respected member of the f150 forum and fantastic wealth of knowledge for the DIY car audio enthusiast with no ill intentions other than to help others have a great sounding system. Google his username.

Nick Apicella is an extremely well respected member, installer, tuner, and business owner in the car audio industry. I invite you to google his name as well.

i guess i must have missed some stuff here yesterday while i was gone. but reading oldfarts message where he quotes someone, which i cant find any of that persons posts anymore, (banned again?) lets clarify a couple things. here is my response, and to anyone else who would like to know more.

not once did i ever say anything negative about audiofrog products. the only reason we decided not to carry the line here is because we dont know the products yet. they havent established a long term reputation yet. i have posted very clearly that from what i have seen, its a good product and dont see any issues with them as of yet. only time will tell.

the reason you take a speaker out of phase in a 3 way active setup is for sound imaging. why do a lot of subwoofer amplifiers have a phase selection and not speaker amps? maybe, just maybe, because the subwoofers are so far back in the trunk, that by the time the sound reaches your ear its out of phase with the rest of the system. and if you switch the phase it could possibly sound better. why do all sound processors have a phase selection for each individual speaker? (and this is slightly different from having 2 subwoofers in proper polarity with each other but out of phase with the system) im sure its definitely not just to fix your wiring mistake when you got the polarities crossed on a speaker. while you can use phase selection for tuning, in certain applications turning a midrange out of phase will achieve the sound stage you are looking for. you can use as many microphones and whatever programs you want to get the sound to your liking. i dont condone that one bit. but to come here and say that im giving bad information is wrong. just because people havent tried tuning this way doesnt mean its wrong. its may look funny or weird on an o scope or rta when measuring the sound, but when it comes down to it, all the microphones and all the programs are there to get you the base tune for the vehicle. you dont see judges walking aeound wih microphones and laptops judging vehicles. you see them with a clipboard and a scorecard. just because it may show up perfect on you computer, it may not sound perfect in your vehicle. being able to distinguish sound by ear is not something everyone can do, peoples hearing are different and if you have unatural loss of hearing then you cant pick out the specific parameters you need to tune properly. but if you arent familiar with this type of tuning, try it before saying im giving wrong information. its not every application, just some. and if you want more info, i will be glad to talk about more. a discussion is always good as long as its civil.

this thread has gone from a person asking advice, to a shit pile of accusations, and bs. lets keep it clean from here on out

I think the wrong terminology is being used here and that is what is invalidating your point. Hear me out. Phase and polarity are different. I think maybe what you are trying to say is that you are swapping polarity to bring a speaker INTO phase? That “phase switch “you are referring to doesn’t control phase. It controls polarity. Polarity flips from 0 to 180 degrees. There is no in-between. You sound stage will disappear if you have two speakers out of polarity which is what you are describing. The sound waves literally cancel each other out which is why your stage disappears (or appears).

With phase, you are shifting the position of a waveform relative to another in time (degrees of cycles). To control phase, you need a dial where you can start at 0 and then adjust the amount of positive or negative phase shift that you want to apply 0, 90, 180, 270, 360 degrees.

With polarity, you are positioning the waveform as either right side up, or upside down relative to its original state. I.e. we are flipping the +/- orientation without changing the waveform's position in time.

The “phase switch” flips the polarity 180 degrees. It does not change the waveform’s position in time relative to anything else

This article might help you better understand what you are trying to convey.

Perhaps it's just me, but I got the impression that OP came in looking for opinions from other Raptor owners about the product choices and overall value of the deal. I don't think the intent was to get forum vendors to attempt to out bid what the installer quoted him. As I've seen stated several times, installers put in a lot of time and effort into designing a system, and there should be some sense of loyalty for that reason. I'm not suggesting a customer should take whatever deal they are offered, or can't do any price checking or anything, or you can't switch installers if you no longer trust your guy for whatever reason, just that it's a best to give the guy who got you there every chance to make the sale.

Amantay,

Have you decided on what your doing? FYI I have the same front setup you posted. In the process of my build finally. It took awhile for me to acquire everything. Keep us posted. I’m going to start my own thread soon.

My build did not start yet. Apicella sound has 6 month waitlist for installations. My install coming up at the end of September hopefully.

- I already ordered Stage 4 MTI enclosure for 2 12-inch subwoofers (Audiofrogs)
- Apicella also doing custom Sails and Pillars
- Also decided to go with 2x Audiofrogs in the center spot (front between pass. and driver)

Just wanted to report that finally after 6 month being on a waitlist, I just dropped off my Raptor at Apicella Auto Sound. Nick is doing whole setup mentioned above + AL Anti-Laser Priority install with 3 heads in rear and 3 head in front. Pictures are coming soon.
