(And yes Dan, I did look at the Deavers... and you asked because????)

When I rode back from the Shell station with you we talked about the Deavers and if they're progressive springs. You said you'd look at them to understand how they're different than stock (other than simply having more leafs).

Well it looks like i will be calling Scott over at Deaver to set up my appoint here soon. I had him set up my last truck and it was a night/day difference....i can only imagine the improvement it makes on this beast!

When I saw Brian's truck first time on Friday night, I noticed real of his truck was way lower than mine.
It was not that low when I put 17 fruit boxes and stuff on my truck bed.
Brian told me that was because of weight of things on his bed, and I thought so.
I think the deaver makes real softer than stock, so it can follow bomps more, and lower real than stock when he put heavy things on bed.
BTW, B and M ran really fast on the vid, I tried to catch up them but it was impossible for me even I didnt have anything on my bed.

The Deavers are "softer" don't allow for as much payload as stock springs. The front of my truck is 2 3/4" higher and the rear is an 1" lower(unloaded) than a stock Raptor. I had about 700lb payload this trip so the combination make my truck look a lot lower in the rear than a stock Raptor.

Version 2 in HD

OK... here's the full frame video with the edited version p-i-p and available in 1080 HD. (click on the bar where it says "360p" and you can select a different resolution)

The stock truck handled those same bumps pretty well IMHO. The jury is still out for me on this mod... I have not ridden in or driven a truck with the Deaver's yet.

Another great editing job. Just from the viewing side...did not appear to be much of rear end bouncing difference between the two. But of course my opinion is not qualified as I have not driven the deaver spring mod truck.

My personal opinion is that the Deaver's are less "progressive rate" than stock... I always thought the more leafs in a spring, the more consistent the rate can be through the travel... and the Deaver does not appear to have any "overload leafs" like the stock springs.

My guess is that the Deavers are simply a lighter rate spring than stock pretty much all the way through the travel.

It's kinda funny because "mono leafs" used to be the hot ticket on a leaf spring equipped car. Multi-leafs are heavier (added unsprung weight) and were prone to a "harsher" ride and poor handling due to all the friction between the individual leaves. You used to take the stock multi-leaf and replace it with a block and a spring with fewer leaves. Now "multi leafs" are being touted as the better way to go?? Go figure.

About the only thing I can tell is the Deavers look softer than stock... I'm not sure I buy into the "progressive rate" claim but I'm not an expert on leaf springs.

The rear of the truck feels softer but it doesn't bottom as easy as stock. I attribute that to the "progressive" spring pack. Is that a correct assumption on my part?

:idk:

One thing... you lost the stock block - bump stop pad right? Was anything done (new bump stop pad or longer bump stop) to compensate? My point is that maybe you gained a little travel in the rear?
