I don't have a Raptor - I have a Double Cab Tundra but most Tundra guys don't like getting their truck dirty LOL The Jeep guys go too slow and you Raptor guys do tons of stuff and love that. Love the Raptor just too much $$ for me. Figured if I can get out with a handful of you guys and maybe compare the trucks, maybe my next truck will be the Raptor.
When I was looking I looked at the sticker and that was as far as it went. A couple of things about the Tundra is what sold me and couldn't pass on the price.

I'm tempted if it's October or November. Got the bug now after SDBR.

You don't even have a Raptor? We've got to change that...lol!

Just wondering if you've been down Lippencott with a SuperCrew before. I remember it being SUPER TIGHT and sketchy in the Raptor (remember we're 7" wider than most 1/2 tons) and with the extended wheel base of the SuperCrew (12 more inches) I would worry the wheel cheat on the rear would make some of the tight trails REALLY hard to navigate...

There was one spot that I was barely able to squeeze around, where there was about a 100' drop on the outside... And I have a Scab which is substantially easier to maneuver and navigate tight trails than the SuperCrew is!

Last time I was on Lippencott was a few years back and I know it has gotten a little worse. We can adjust and skip it and head to Panamint Springs from Eureka Dunes or do it in Reverse that way we could hit the Racetrack from the north. But if we wanted to visit the Racetrack it would be an in and back or out up over Hunter mtn.
How tight is Steele pass with the Raptor Wheelbase? My width is about 80 and wheelbase of 146, Raptor is 86 wide and 133/145 wheelbase. I normally take mine places that I am not supposed to - when thru Echo Canyon that says Short Wheel base only - haha no issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4hz6sLHYSM

Guys that have Methods or aftermarket wheels are likely pushing the 87-88" width. It was TIGHT and nerve-racking when I did this 18 months ago. Assuming it hasn't gotten any better, I'd be very hesitant to make this your primary route.

Here are some pics of my Raptor on Lippencott:

Here is another Raptor owners story, about his Lippencoot Rd experience:

The first problem is that there are maybe 4 places to pull out in about 10 miles. So if you run in to traffic, someone is going to have to back up a long way. The Raptor is as wide as the road is, and in some places wider. The first obstacle I ran across was a boulder on the right side of the road. I probably should have turned back there but sometimes I'm not to bright. Plus I hate turning back. If the picture attaches correctly, you will see the tread mark after the narrow spot. Extrapolating back, I estimate I had 4 inches of tire hanging in the air.

Other then that there were three switchbacks with washouts on the downhill side. My super cab could not get any closer to the walls and the outside rear tire was dangling in the air on these. At one someone had tried to build it up with rocks and topped it with two 2x4's. I heard these boards clunk together even though they were well below road level. There was one other rock I couldn't avoid that scraped along the bottom of the truck. (middle perch, General Grabber 35's) But it didn't sound that bad and nothing I could do.

So obviously a Raptor can make it unless the road gets even worse. I'm not planning on doing it again

Soooo... yeah, just some friendly planning advice. But hey, they call some of us "adventurers" for a reason! LOL

How tight is Steele pass with the Raptor Wheelbase?

I also did that on my first trip, but with a VERY experienced off-road tour group, with professional spotters. Don't think I could have made it through as easily and without damage, without the help of some VERY experienced spotters that helped me.

Some narrow passes that the Jeeps were crawling between, I had to straddle the "V" shaped squeeze with the Raptor. One slip, and it would have crashed down onto the side of the body!

Another one that is doable (at least in my Super-Cab, can't speak for the SuperCrews) but one that would be slow going, and people would definitely want/need spotting assistance through lots of it.
