The order number is generated the day the truck is ordered. Order numbers are unique to each dealer, just like the dealer number is unique. SVT could tell me exactly how many orders my dealer had ahead of me, they were in sequence, I would always ask if they had been pulled, since they only pulled 1 or 2 a month. When they all were pulled, I knew mine would be next.
It's a tough wait, the first dealer I order from overbooked, I waited for 3 months and they still had about 10 orders ahead of mine. I bailed and found another dealer, had I waited, I would have never seen my truck. The second dealer got the truck in 6 months. But by this time last year, my dealer allocation was gone, so I'd move fast if I were you.
That's just it...my dealer has told me more than once that they don't issue DORA's anymore because that's "the od system". So what am I to do? I can no longer take this guy at his word anymore. lI am calling SVT Monday morning and if I give them the description of what I ordered and give them the dealer code, I am hoping they can tell me something. If I find out that my order HAS been pulled and is scheduled for production, there will be hell to pay! Ford will here about it and if they are concerned about my happiness, they better make something happen.
I used to phone SVT once a week, on my 2013, All you have to do is give them your dealer code and order number. I had my vin before my dealer had it....
If you already know the dealer code then just ask him for the order number and tell him that you don't have to bother him anymore and will check the status yourself. If they can't give you an order number then I would be seriously worried.
Well then consider me seriously worried. I have asked for DORA's, order numbers and so on...nothing. But here's my dilemma. I negotiated a good price (in writing), gave my deposit and I ordered on 2/27. I know I can't even come close to that price anywhere else. Also, once I go elsewhere, the clock starts over. I believe that this guy is tugging my nuts. But, I can't convince myself to start over with another dealer. At this point, I will continue calling my dealer and become a big pain in his ass. I do have the luxury of time. As I've said before, I don't care how long my wait is...I just need proof that I will get one.
Ok, let me ask you this. Once I order from my dealer, when is the order number generated and who generates it...the Ford dealership or the Dearborn Truck Plant?
Ok, is that order number generated by my dealer or by Dearborn? This is another hurdle with my salesman. I've asked for an order number and I can't get that either. I'm sending him an email today and I'm going to demand an order number. I'm sure he'll give me some ******** line about how he doesn't have one and I want to be prepared for that answer. If he can't provide that number, what should my response be? Does the dealer issue the order number or does Dearborn? Once I know that answer for sure, my salesman better have the right answer or we're done doing business.
To answer your question on who generates the number on the DORA " Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement". It's simple, Ford is giving the Dealer a receipt for acknowledging they received the dealers order and here is a number to put with it. So Ford gives the number.
