. Thanks for the laughs.

That might be one of the silliest posts in the history of this forum. ADM creates zero value to the customer and ONLY benefits the dealer.

Alot of dealers use the Doc Fees to establish and cover a minimum commission to the Finance guy in the event he does not sell any backend products and also to offset back office salaries of the folks processing the paperwork. While I agree some of the fees reported are excessive, they are nowhere near the ADMs reported by some buyers here.
As I stated, the value to the customer is owning the Raptor. Some customers can justify the ADM if that means they get to own it and drive it everyday. I am not a fan of ADM but thats the reality of the market.

ADMs are infinitely more defensible than doc fees--the dealer is telling you directly to your face that they believe the market value of the vehicle is higher than the MSRP and that their goal is to maximize their profit. That is the point of running a business, and you're (generally) told about it right up front.

Doc fees are completely fabricated charges intended to make it seem like the paperwork process is much more complicated than it is. The dealer is lying directly to your face in order to pack the deal on the back end, just like you say. It's borderline scammy, and the proof that they're aware of that is that they (generally) don't like to tell you about it until the last second.

The difference of my opinion of the two charges is not in the amount, but in the presentation.

Also, this is why so many people hate car dealers. I currently have six cars, and would trade a lot more often but simply tire of dealing with these games. "This is the price" right up until it's not = doc fees.

This is spot on and exactly what I was getting at. Doc fees are very scammy because paperwork is part of any sales deal. It shouldn't be an additional charge especially when it costs upwards of $800. It's just bad business.

The doc fees are on every purchase order I have ever seen and have purchased more than 50 new cars in my life. I buy 2-4 per year. If you aren’t seeing your purchase order before you get to the Finance office, that is your fault.

I have stated several times, exorbitant doc fees are uncalled for, but I have no problem paying the $99 my dealer charges me. Especially since I buy these trucks at invoice as several members here have confirmed and also ordered/bought from them.

ADM is the Sucker’s Tax. Absolutely zero reason to pay it other than laziness, impatience, too much money to burn, or have to be first on the block with the new Raptor. Trying to justify it makes you one of the above.

I'm curious, how much do you pay in sales tax for vehicles in your state? Particularly the Gen 3 Raptor your going to buy?
