Dashcam mirror tap need fuse?

Does a dashcam that will tap into the mirror (2018 802A) need a fuse in the line?

I got the mirrortap mtx which has a 2 amp in line fuse. It had several different sized taps which helped make a smooth installation.

Thanks. Do I need it? I would think if there's a short in the dashcam it might save the truck's mirror electronics until it gets to the other fuse in the truck. Seems low probability tho.

You absolutely need the fuse on any hot wired line that you add. Unless you like roasting marshmallows on the inside of your truck! ; >)
