CVF Titan Intercooler: Installation and Review

I’m not sayin that at all. What I am saying is in moderate to hotter climates I’d sleep much more sound with a better unit and MAYBE not lose too much sleep with OE up north.

Then again, IF I were still in the business, an upgraded intercooler would be my first recommendation, and only recommendation if you were to only do one mod for increased (if not just more consistent) power and reliability.

A big caveat though is I am NOT still in the business and I am NOT yet familiar with this engine.

It fits in the stock location. Minimal modification , pull out shroud and some zip ties for the fans. Crank the living shit out of the clamps. Because you’ll pop them off after boosting. Cooler air into ! Engine. Equals better performance. The 3.5 HO wants cooler air. Panel filter it too. Tune if you want too. Tune is the best mod for this truck. TCM tune too. Drive it with clean fresh motor oil ! These trucks like clean oil. And fresh plugs too. Cheap insurance. Drive truck tuned. Smile so freakin much your face hurts like hell. Rinse repeat

So for us living in colder temps, would the OE unit suffice or "Send It"?

Why ask about an intercooler? Prius’ don’t have turbos, much less intercoolers.

It seems the general opinion on the CVF IC is “get it if you’re tuned”. I have no interest in increasing the power of my raptor, I feel like what it does stock is plenty for me. What I would buy this IC for is if it has other benefits. So my question to you guys is: What are the effects of running an aftermarket IC on reliability and longevity of engine, turbo and intake components? Are there any positive benefits to running “cooler” for long term owners not looking for power gains? I mean this independent of ambience and driving behavior. Just scientifically/generally speaking, does a “better” IC make for better vehicle health?

I would be wary if you are in the land of the ice and snow. IMO, Ford designs these intercoolers to be satisfactory for both cold and hot climates which requires a compromise. Too much cooling creates a condensation buildup. They had this specific problem with the Focus RS and had to block off a portion of the IC.

There is a lot of engineering that goes into these trucks at the factory. Just like our suspensions, when you change one thing, something else goes out of whack.
