Installed the intercooler today in two hours on the ground for first time wasn’t to bad. That also included pulling back out because I didn’t know I had to take the plastic trim off the front to make more room. Install was smooth after that. At the same time I did the VTA mod and plug.

That’s the only mods on the truck so far and seems to pull much harder. Anyone else notice this just on a intercooler swap? Could it be because of the increase in volume size of the intercooler?

What is the VTA mod and plug you mentioned?

Vent to atmosphere. Just don't plug the tube back up to the diverter valve on the intercooler. You will need a plug I think it cost about $35 from stage 3 motorsports, its made of billet aluminum. It basically is just a sound mod but it also keeps the pressure from going back into the throttle body and causing a surge on the engine potentially causing damage.

It’s an easy install. Nothing but the stock intercooler and hoses are removed. Took about 1 hour, start to finish. An extra set of hands help to raise the new cooler into place.

It looks very easy... just found it odd that in our picture/social media happy world, no one had posted pics installing/installed/etc in an actual Raptor.

Come on man, the only reason we do that is for this GIGANTIC hissing sound when you jump off the throttle, which I love! :D:D
True story: guy next to my son and I in traffic in a V8 Audi with Akrapovic exhaust. He couldn't help but stomp on it everytime traffic moved just so he could get it revved enough to let out a few off-throttle exhaust pops and cracks. So, when I had my chance I stepped on it and then let off right next to his rolled down window, it hissed so bad you would think I blew a tire! I thought he was going to jump into the passenger seat it scared him so bad.

Kind of reminds me of Harley Riders saying, loud pipes are only for saving lives! :)

If the grille shutters are anything like what other manufacturers are doing, the purpose is to block off airflow to the radiator when the vehicle is cold, which in turns helps the motor warm up faster, which decreases emissions and improves operating efficiency. It also has the benefit of slightly increasing aerodynamics while the shutters are closed.
