Mine didn't tear but the boot slipped from the clamp. First time was the wheel side of the cv shaft the second time was the engine side. Eibach prolift springs. Maybe I'm naive and sure the spring changes the angle of the cv shaft a little, but I don't see how it creates movement outside of what the cv angle and shock travel would be when it's going through it's progressions offroad to the point where it would tear the boot or cause seperation.

The boots are designed to operate at the factory ride height, with a tolerance for maximum and minimum travel. They are not designed to be constantly operated at an angle other than factory, which is most like the root cause of the failure.

Geiser isn’t some crappy aftermarket company. They specialize in this area so when cv boots are failing I’m pretty sure they’d take note. There are so many raptors out there with geisers and I’ve searched the internet for this problem and I seem to be the first so it sounds like Ford is making bad quality cv joint boots. Sure the angle is a little more but it’s well within its range.

They’ve now covered it twice under warranty and that’s 2 separate dealerships. That shows that this could be a manufacture defect.

No, that shows that the dealer is not following the Warranty & Policy. Damage to CV axles on lifted vehicles is not warrantable.

So Ford is “making bad quality CV boots”, but after searching the internet you found no evidence of others having this issue? Yet your truck is modified, and you’ve had multiple failures.

Geiser is an aftermarket company, they are not an OEM. They don’t perform anything close to the level of durability testing that Ford does, if any at all. The CV axles are designed to operate at the factory ride height. If you’re having issues due to your aftermarket lift, you may need to seek an aftermarket solution.

yes exactly! You do realize that Geiser has been making springs for raptors since gen 1 right?! And no one has had issues until now? So you’re saying every lifted/leveled raptor is gonna have cv joint failures?

ive replaced cv boots more times than I can count. After the first couple times, you either get good at replacing them, or good at paying to have them replaced.

You could both be at least partially right.
How much is the height altered and how much change is introduced in that angling? It’s possible that the ‘lift’ isn’t immediately obvious to the naked eye and nobody’s caught it yet, or they did and dismissed it as causative or contributory. Maybe there actually were defects OR, a poor install of the prior (failed) boot?

If the lift is enough, I could see the joint generating more heat, fatiguing the boot faster Will it be enough to cause a quick failure? I don’t know, but with 2 failures in proximity, I’d be concerned:

Mine didn't tear but the boot slipped from the clamp. First time was the wheel side of the cv shaft the second time was the engine side

This sounds procedural to me.

Since all of his suspension parts have been kept stock outside of his rims/tires, Ford wouldn’t deny any warranty work would they? :)

@zombiekiller 40s are cool and all, but your not Ken Block and Wetsen type of cool :p
