i was thinking using a custom y pipe where the cutouts are located before the crossmember and the cats are immediately after the crossmember before the muffler… Any thoughts?

Cats cannot be relocated relative to the head exhaust ports, any modification pre-cat is technically illegal in California unless it is a full setup with a carb executive order number, I know, I have my smog license and know exactly what can or can't be done, the upside is that according to smog regulations all modifications post-cat are legal and cannot prevent you from getting your vehicle smogged and registered, even completely removing everything after the final oxygen or air fuel ratio sensor, that doesn't mean you can't get a fix it ticket for it though, lol

Not really concerned about it being legal since most smog shops in my area don't know the difference between a cat, resonator or muffler on an exhaust they just look up there and see a metal thingy and call it good. So legality isn't the concern nor the dangers or 02 sensors. I want to know if this will even fit

All new SW cat back. I use e-30 and didn't have any lights from o2 censers. When I took out the. Cats is when I shut off the censer.

Here are the measurements of the space above the cats. I don't think anything will fit there due to them being around 5in between the flange and the cat.
