Alright so I think stock wise the engine doesn’t sound like it should. I also am not a fan of spending a couple of grand for an exhaust that I’m going to beat up or have issues with the actuators. With that being said I just decided to chop off the tips and resonators during my lunch break. Cold start sounded way better and had a more aggressive tone. We will see what it sounds like on the way home today. I’ll post sound clips after work as well.

I used some 3” tube clamps we have at the shop and a fine tooth sawsall.

Alright forgot to get the start up, to excited to just leave work…

Not sure if there’s a market for the cut offs but I’ll get those posted just in case.

Are you leaving it like that or are you going to add some pipe and new exhaust tips?

We need sound clips! lol
I’m going to add some down pipes and that’s it, they are so far back that doing anything else would be a waste, no one would notice.

I’m trying to cut down the sound clip right now gimme some time to figure this tech out.

While I applaud your efforts, I just continue to be disappointed by the exhaust on these R’s.

I’m not a Ram guy, but go start a TRX, they sound fantastic. Go start a GT500, they sound fantastic. Then you get to the R, and it sucks. 85 different resonators, baffles, valves, and the sound is garbage.

So far I’ve not heard any improvement from aftermarket or tip swaps. I wish Ford dropped the selectable valving and just ran a regular exhaust with one muffler.

Oh for sure my TRX sounded way better but I’m not spending upwards of $2k for an exhaust I’m going to bash on the trails. This mod was free and definitely helped make it sound better. Still needs more work though. I’m thinking of fitting in some SLP loud mouths inline to see if that helps.

Yep hanging out in Colorado for a few more weeks then we will be moving to AZ. It’s time to leave for nicer warmer weather!
