Truck drives like shit. Knocks in 4wd. Adaptive cruise hunts speed and gear. Downshift with a clunk. And commanded throttle is all over the damn place.

You’re very sensitive.

Maybe you need to get your hormones checked.

I have aim solo 0-60 times with 5 star and MPT. It’s a half a second difference. So pretty much their dyno claims are accurate on their dyno.

How long have you worked at 5 Star? You don’t know what you’re missing.

Yes, living in the middle of nowhere Maine, I definitely am a 5 star employee

Precisely

Then I think it’s safe to say, just as you don’t work for 5 Star, I don’t work for MPT.

We both are enthusiasts and appreciate the tunes that we run. There is nothing wrong with that.

Exactly how my plugs looked like after 22k miles, about half of that with 5Star. I threw in the SP542s and it was night and day difference. I was even getting spark knock that the dealership diagnosed as cam phasers. Hell they even ordered the parts and were ready to tear in to the engine. I changed the plugs and the knock was gone.

The most recent 5Star tunes are ok but I still won't run them. Their first iterations were solid garbage. Customer service was awful and they don't know what they are talking about in many cases.

I'm waiting to see if Whipple will support the N Gauge or I might switch to Gearhead.

i just changed to the sp542s and the idle is better but the weird rough downshift while braking is harsh and clunks. Still has tip in knock in 4wd and the throttle is commanded at 90+% when the accelerator pedal is at 15% at over 5k rpm like it wants to keep accelerating in order to shift. It holds the throttle at 90+% for over 1 second after the accelerator pedal is back at 15%.
Basically all they seem to do is crank up the command ratio, raise target boost and increase shift firmness and speed. My plugs are half tan half black wich makes me think their PI/DI ratio is incorrect. When i asked about it they didn't understand pi/di timing. I think this is the first pi/di engine they've ever tuned. When the pi/di Subaru engines came out you really could tell all the ****** tuners because they were lost.

It’s the pedal commander trick. To the unknowing.... the truck feels much faster because it jerks you off the line. It just lacks smooth linear power. Smoke and mirrors. It’s not going to help a quarter mile time.

5 Star turns up the dial more than anyone I’ve tested.

Try to take that mess on a technical off road.

I’ve had it off-road a bunch with the 5Star tune. I’d much rather run that tune off-road than on the street.

5 star updated my tune this morning after I explained to them ramping up throttle command doesn't make more power, it just makes the last 20% of the accelerator pedal useless. I'm not a noob at this and am not fooled by amateur tuner techniques. They also changed the target afr and boost. Its showing 19.7. My long term and short term fuel trims were more stable as of now and the idle is much better. Tip in knock wasn't detected but its cool out and I'm logging on the street. Down shifting still sucks. Truck feel smoother but slower. But without testing on my AIM DL its probably just because the throttle command isn't at an insane level.
