They would have to be removed with 90% of the aftermarket bumpers people would run anyway.. lol

Nah, the piece they took off was an outrigger that would deflect an impact away from the wheel. Without it, the wheel gets shoved into the footwell. It's pretty nasty if you look at the crash tests of the trucks without it.
I know that Ford says the Raptor has a 5 star crash rating. They are basing this on a full front crash test performed by the NHTSA (DOT). That's a government test into a wall. The manufacturers provide a test vehicle and the government crashes it.
The IIHS is a non profit company that buys cars off dealers lots and does a much better real world off-set crash test. I prefer the IIHS results because I think they are more inline with what could happen in a real crash. Rarely does someone crash exactly head on into something.
There has been some discussion on other forums regarding the Raptors crash worthiness. Back in 2015 the IIHS tested the f150 screw and it did very well in the off set tests. The 2015 scab did terrible. Go to YouTube and watch... they crumble like a soda can. The driver would be lucky to survive.
So Ford added something to the 2016 scab's and IIHS retested them and found they were as good as the screw. Problem solved.
Other forums are saying that whatever they added to the regular f150 screw and scab has been deleted from the Raptors. All Raptors. Anyone know if that's true?
If you watch the YouTube video and see how terrible the 2015 scab did, you might want to know how well a raptor would do. I wouldn't want to buy a raptor if they would perform as poorly as the '15 scabs do.
The IIHS won't test a Raptor because they rarely test a performance version on a model they've already tested.
Does anyone have any inside knowledge of the Raptor structure?
Thanks
