That's pretty much been my experience. Same day or next day. I wouldn't want to know what the insurance rates are in a place that has so much glass business.

Safelite is great. Used them a couple of times. Great customer service as well. I had a problem with one installation, and they bent over backwards to make it right. Even followed up with a phone call to make sure I was happy.

Got the new windshield installed and it looks good. The calibration process is simple, the tech connects a laptop running the Ford Diagnostic tool, selects “Service Tools”, then selects LDMS (Lane Departure Module Ststem) calibration, then click yes, system returns “Camera Calibration” initiated, then drive the truck for 10 minutes above 40mph on a road with well marked lines, and done!!

Bumping an old thread...

Got cut off on my way into work this morning, and of course the a-hole's ****** camry threw a rock. It's just a chip now, but right in my line of sight and pretty annoying... And large enough that it will eventually crack.

Seems the overwhelming opinion is Safelite. I've used them once with no complaints, but my questions are:

- Do they replace with Ford OEM?
- I drive a '19 with the wiper defrosters built in, has anyone had an issue with this?
- Ancillary question: With the windshield off, think it might be easier to get power run for a dashboard (or windshield) cam?

Thanks!

you shouldnt have any issue.

as for power for a dash cam, the windshield being out doesnt help at all. Run the power up the a pillar from the passenger footwell, then across the front of the headliner and down the rear view mirror stalk. ( at least thats what I did and havent had any issues. )

It’s a scam. If they don’t disconnect the camera, you won’t need to recalibrate it. It’s a money grab.

If you get Safelite do they replace with the Ford SoundScreen windshield? I would want factory windshield so the noise in the cabin stays the same.

I got a chip in my windshield on my 2019 at 3000 miles - safelight said it was non fixable. I called my local Ford dealer and the shop guy recommended the installer they use - he said they don't actually fix windshields in house. He said I would save a few bucks going directly to their installer. The place they use had been doing it for them for 25+ years so I went with them over Safelight just because of his recommendation. They did use OEM windshield and matched the original part number - it did not require any further installation - they came to my house and did the whole thing in 1 hour! It was roughly $650.
