Yeah, the UCA do not move on this gen of f150. They did move in the past for adjustment so maybe that's why he's trying but really he should know better.

Yeah I was watching the computer screen and that's what it was telling him to do so maybe he typed in the wrong year?

Although he did scan my door with his bar code reader or whatever so you'd think the computer knows what year my truck is.

Who knows what he did or why the machine is giving him false info. All I know is the uppers are not suppose to move in any way shape or form as far as adjustment is concerned. You might suggest the Lca is where adjustments are made before he gets all western and tries to install kits on the UCA.

Yeah that or go somewhere else.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah somewhere else might be the better option. Sucks the world of automotive technicians has, is, and will continue to go to complete shit.

Madcow, you should post up or PM me the name of the place so I don't waste my time in the future. I try to use dealerships only for warranty work as it is, but alignment isn't exactly a shade tree type project...unless you're Jay Leno.

Yeah Vash it's the dealer in B'ville. So I was in town this morning running errands in the feed truck so I decided to stop by and ask some hard questions.

I ask to talk to the guy in charge, he comes out and calls the tech who worked on my truck and the senior tech over as I'm explaining what happened yesterday. The senior tech looks at the guy who was trying to adjust my UCA and is like "What the **** is wrong with you?" Tells me to bring the truck to him this afternoon and he will do the alignment.

I hope I didn't just get someone fired.

In the guy's defense, the computer was telling him to do that after he scanned my bar code on the door.

Well, hopefully you got taken care of.

It's definitely a bummer when the only reason you're using the dealership at all is because they have to right tools...the actual knowledge on how to use those tools is apparently optional in the dealership service industry these days.

Myself and others I know have had enough dealings with that dealership that I don't let them touch my truck if at all possible and even then I always end up double checking their work. It's almost worth it to drive to Tulsa if you're aware of a reputable dealer there.

Used to have my tire rotations done in Bartlesville since I didn't have the jacks and stands to do it myself until recently. The service writer always seemed dumbfounded that I changed my own oil and brought my truck in only for rotations.

I may be looking to go to mid perch and/or get some new rear springs at some point so it'd definitely be good to know some place that can do a decent alignment locally if I don't simply decide to do the work at WSI and get the alignment up there since I'm likely gonna get my springs from him anyway.

Haha.

I watched the dude loosen one side of the UCA and tug on the top of the tire to adjust the caster but he couldn't get it to move. I'm not completely sure he knew what he was doing.
Sounds like your LCA may have slid out of place! Id check that. they must be FT

To make a long story short, Took them 3 1/2 hours with the truck on the rack to get the alignment right- while I watched.

I don't even want to talk about it.
