Cost of a Painting a Hood

Any idea on the cost of repainting the hood?

Mine came with a scratch (not very big) and dealer offered to have it fixed. Took it to their body shop and the head guy there would rather not do it. Me either honestly, it would put me out 2 days without the truck and the hood looks great otherwise.

We decided he would work with my dealer to offer some compensation instead. I know they will try to low ball me so I am curious what I could ask for money wise as compensation. The scratch is tiny but if it takes 2 days and a complete paint job of the hood it can't be cheap.

I had a small chip in mine from a rock after going to Borrego. Nothing huge. I had to get a chip in the edge of the door repaired from what Ford delivered to me brand new. So, I asked the body shop if they could fix the hood while fixing the door. They said the only way to do it right was to repaint the whole hood which was a little north of $500. I bet there are better deals since this was a quote from a 3rd party body shop through the local Ford dealer who likely wanted a cut of the action. I declined and will opt for a little touch up paint. So, ballpark offset for you should be $500 or less. Good luck.
