Corrosion on Rear FOX shocks AARRGH....

Wow the corrosion on these shocks are bad. About three months ago I had my truck undercoated and the tech asked if he needed to tape the shocks off and I told him no go ahead and spray the shocks. Well after words I wondered if I made the right choice by having them sprayed but after seeing the corrosion on these shocks I am not so disappointed that they are coated.

I coated mine with Amsoil HDMP, as well as the whole underside. I highly recommend it to anyone that is exposed to harsh environments, or for an insurance policy.

engineering blunder

WOW this is like cancer to the aluminum that maybe terminal the split ring under the collar is an engineering blunder two dissimilar metals being aluminum and steel contacting creates an anode and cathode add moisture (eiectrolyte) it's basically a battery needs a dielectric barrier to prevent corrosion or it can't be prevented.

Hi Guys...

FYI...I did the middle perch adjustment on my Raptor this week. Raptor is a 2012 delivered to me in Dec. 2011. It just hit 3000 miles...no exposure to salted roads (didn't even snow this past winter). Additionally, I gave the truck underbody a "Fluid Film" treatment on 2 different occasions over this six month period.

When I got the shock assembly out of the truck and exposed the split ring under the collar, sure enough...corrosion. Here's the pictures. This in my opinion is the result of 2 different metals coming in contact with one another (steel and aluminum). It was unnoticeable in the stock position but now at the middle perch I can see it and it really ****** me off. Like I said, the truck was never exposed to salt. The rear shocks don't have this problem, only the fronts with the split ring.

ls it worth going to Fox and asking for replacements? I have to believe all of our trucks are going to see this happen to the front shocks as I don't believe it has anything to do with salt.

I have a 2013 with 6,000 miles and no issues with my shocks. Mine have a film on them. You can see from the pictures where some dirt has worked its way under the film at the edges.

Have this issue on the front shocks and had to use a rubber mallet to get switch up to the mid perch. Had about 36k miles on the truck. Hoping that they'll rust through and I'll be forced to get a set of 3.0's.

anybody sell replacement decals for the rear shocks? not as worrieda bout the front since they're more hidden, but I wouldn't mind for the rears to peel the stickers off, skotch brite the whole thing to get rid of the corrosion, and re-wrap them in film, then re-sticker them.
