Considering buying a 23 37PP, but dealer says it will be here in a week? How do I know for sure?

I've been looking for a Raptor and have been calling dealers in my state, as well as in the states surrounding me. I finally found a dealer that will work with me on the price, but it's not on the lot. They are telling me it will be here by the end of the month or first of January at the latest? How do I know for sure? They said it's built, but just sitting and waiting for shipment. Is there a way to know for sure? I don't trust anything dealers tell me.

They also want me to pay for it now, before it even gets here? Is this normal? I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around paying for a truck that isn't here yet?

that sounds crazy. $500 refundable deposit is all id ever do. sounds like they are trying to get you on the hook for the negotiated price, incase it doesn't show later than that. they would maybe have to sell it for less. I see more on the lots around me so that tells me prices are getting forced back down to more normalcy. well its the economy or people are stopping paying the ADM as easily. my guess its a combination of a lot of things. It just tells me they are worried about losing money if it doesn't get there quickly.

I went through this with a dealer. Was told truck would be here in a month. I put $1k deposit. I found another vehicle closer to me on the lot and I pulled the trigger on that one and got the deposit refunded from the other dealer. However I had the VIN and tracking info so I kept checking just to see when it got delivered. Truck in question had a built date of September 28th and arrived at dealership first week of December.

There is no way to really know when it will arrive for sure.

OK so it sounds like my best bet would be to put a deposit down, and wait for the truck to arrive. When looking at the window sticker, I think it has a blend date of 11/30/22. Under the special order box there is a date of 11/21/22 as well, not sure what that date is?

When you put deposit down, make them give you the VIN. That way you can kind of track it. The tracker isn't the greatest, but you should probably be able to see if it's moving.

Be careful with that. I ordered a 23 with a blend date of 10/26 and was shipped out on 10/29. It's sitting in one of those automotive rail yards just waiting to be shipped to my dealership. On my 4th ETA of 1/17-23/2023 and I'm sure it won't arrive then either. My dealer told me it would be in before christmas.

Thanks for the info, that was my concern. They are telling me the same story, that it's sitting in a rai yard and the ETA is 12/28 - 1/4. And it sounds like yours has an earlier blend date too..
