Considering a new '19 tomorrow

Should I pull the trigger on another Raptor or change it up with Super Duty?

I'm certain I know the answer I'll get from our forum, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway... I've had a Raptor as a daily since 2011 and recently sold my 2017 in October. In the absence of a Raptor in my garage I've been contemplating what I was going to purchase as the next daily. To be fair, I had modestly modified my 17 but I live in Colorado and it seems that every third truck is a Raptor. You see them everywhere so I think I got a little bored and decided to let her go.

Ultimately I had decided is was going to purchase a Super Duty and was looking at a few yesterday when my dealers GM grabbed me and told me to come see the 2019 Velocity Blue that he just took delivery of but the owner that ordered it backed out. So here I am sitting in a nice Limited F250 contemplating options I want when he throws the key to the Raptor. My wife just gives me that look because she knows this is about to get complicated. I don't pull enough to warrant the Super Duty, everything I move around the Raptor handles wonderfully.

So, I've had 3 Raptors up until now, this would be my fourth. Do I skip the Super Duty and get the '19 and enjoy the upgrades or move along and enjoy the torque of a Powerstroke for a bit? The Raptor is loaded, the guy that ordered it ticked every option, it is nearly $78K which is insane for a Raptor. It has the Blue Recaro package which is very nice. My 2014 SE was just under $60 plus the Roush Package and I think my 2017 was about $72K

TLDR: First world problems, have to decide between a new Super Duty or Raptor Monday morning.

Its all about the towing, if the raptor fits the bill, its the choice from a resale and fun drive perspective.

If you don’t tow much, the answer seems obvious. I’d go Raptor. Just upgraded from a 2017 to 2019 myself and I’m enjoying the upgrades.

Honestly, the shocks seem to make the truck feel more planted. I did get the tailgate step on this one that I didn’t have on the other one. I’ll probably enjoy that the most from a functional standpoint. The tech pack is a nice upgrade that I didn’t have but I don’t really have a long drive daily so prob won’t use it much. The moonroof is something that came on the truck that I probably will never use.

Had 18 just bought 19.

You've had several Raptors for a reason and have a feeling nothing will compare.

Get the 19 Raptor you will love it.

The real question to ask your self is what does the 250 have that you want/need over the raptor? The resale value for the rap will be much better long term presumably.

That's a good question. It's just something new and different I guess.

I look at both and can see both sides. On the 1 hand, as everyone said: The Raptor is more functional than SD if you don't tow much, more fun to drive and more comfortable. The SD is a lot more maintenance. OTOH, the feeling of a powerful diesel turbo is pretty intoxicating too. In the end, I went with the Raptor for better daily driving experience, and it fits my home and work garages.

B4D81F63-AC54-435B-8D07-67AC1DC4EEAC.jpeg I had a 2017 f250 platinum before i bought my raptor. Full carli leveling kit with custom accutuned shocks, ezlynk, deleted. Don't get me wrong, it was a super luxurious truck, butt massagers and all. It was fun for a while, but it got old driving it back and forth to work everyday through the back canyon roads. Driving an 8000# pound truck through twists and turns is nothing like driving the raptor.

Honestly....... if you're not towing and don't need the extra bed space, it's no contest.

Sure the powerstroke has gobs of torque, but it's not like the diesels from back in the day. With all the emissions crap, de-fueling, extra weight, and torque management, newer diesels are pretty slow off the line. Unless you get them tuned, then it's a whole different ball game. But now you run the risk of burning up the tranny or breaking something in the motor.
