Sometimes it really feels like the majority of members are bipolar. I just never know where a thread is going to end up anymore regardless of topic/subject. Thanks for the entertainment (usually at some poor fellows expense) FRF

Update: it hailed last night. One storm came through at 9:30 pm and the hail protector was up. There was wind, rain, but no hail. There was a small chance of another small cell sweeping through around 2am. I asked myself if I wanted to keep this thing blown up all night for the small chance that it may hail.

I decided to leave it running. I woke up at 3:15am to hail hammering my bedroom window. Texans will know the sound. Went out this morning to no damage. My next door neighbor has a couple of good dents in his GMC. He is ordering a hail protector today.

someone gets the last laugh...

I wonder if you could get your truck pictured on the front and 2 sides of the hail bubble. Then again it might attract thieves, maybe get a vw beetle picture painted on the side or something.

Buddy, don't let it upset you. This is a very unique forum, but all the supposed anger and venomous comments aren't really meant to be vituperative. Most forums are heavily moderated where the mods throw strikes at members a la Sandy Koufax. This is a very loosey-goosey place where people engage their keyboard before their brains and just feel a need to attack others.

Vituperative. Well done. :happy160:

Kudos to @MDJAK for elevating the discussion and classing up the joint !

Right on, good to hear it worked!! Hail is no joke and it's a sickening sound when it's out there hammering your truck and there's nothing you can do about it. Been there a few times in NM, once literally the first night I brought a brand new work truck home (quarter size hail), several on the highway in other work trucks (this was just shy of baseball size):

What sucks even more is when your city prohibits carports, and you could have easily and (relatively) cheaply protected your investment...

As I also live in North TX, I'm with the OP on this. I have the hail protectors for my son's cars as we only have a 2 car garage and I will purchase one for my new truck when it comes in. As they say it is better to look a fool than to be one. Better to pay $600 to protect the truck than to pay deductible to get it fixed. The last big one that hit was $26,000 damage to the house and $7000 to my truck.

This thing makes about as much sense as boarding up your windows when a hurricane's on the way. Which is to say, a lot of sense. Yes, it looks goofy, but so does a house with it's with boarded up windows. Heck, this thing might be useful in a hurricane to stop some small objects from flying into your truck, or when a peaceful protest is passing through.
