Hi all, couple quick questions for those of you who have done some trails in Colorado. I am heading out next week for a meeting in Denver and was planning to take the family out on some trails. I just got the Raptor a couple months ago and it is in perfect shape, so I don't want to scratch it all to hell already. I was planning to to Medano Pass then up to Hayden Pass and then possibly Mosquito Pass. My question is how narrow are the trails and am I going to scratch the crap out of my truck? Thanks for the help.

Hayden and Medano are narrow in some areas (like scratch a Jeep kind of narrow). I pushed my Raptor through all of them but definitely came out with scratches. Nothing an afternoon worth of buffing and compound couldn't fix, but plenty of places to scratch your paint. Haven't done Mosquito so can't comment. There is always CORE (Colorado Offroad Extreme) which is a smaller off road course about 45 min east of the Denver airport. Another great trail is Georgia Pass. A bit further from Denver but a fun trail.

There's a few trails up the Poudre Canyon. The further you travel the harder it gets.

We did Last Dollar Trail on our last trip to Colorado. Easy trail but very pretty.

We are going out to Aspen in July and I am trying to find another easy trail in that area.

We've still got snow on most of our good trails. In addition they can get pretty narrow! I don't take my Raptor on many around here (that's why I have a Jeep), but there are a few decent ones. Alpine loop is a great adventure, but it's not all the way open yet and it's a long haul from Denver. A buddy really likes Mosquito Pass, but I've never done it. Here's a site with somewhat up to date info on trail openings: Bushducks - Jeep Trail and Backroads Trip Reports<BR>Colorado Jeep Trails and Passes - Opening Dates
I just ran Slaughterhouse Gulch in my Jeep yesterday. You could take a Raptor there. You are going to have some tight places, but not too bad now that it's snow/ice free. Beware of the mud, it's deceptively deep. We spent a few hours yesterday pulling ourselves and others free (then getting stuck again). It was avoidable if ya wanted, but we were having fun.

Annie Basin is a fun little trip in the Aspen area. It's not hard, but scenic and close (to Aspen). I haven't done the full trail since I got stuck in snow at the top (in the Raptor).
