ford sets their programming to pull power until the ECT is 180 degrees. This has been part of the pcm logic since about 2015.
If you dont live somewhere hot enough that you're regularly seeing coolant temps bumping over 200, a 170-degree Tstat may cause issues.
could be a bad tstat and its stuck open.My temps are always 205-210. It can be 88 set or 65deg. Running down the highway at 70-75.
Is that indicative of something wrong?

No ideaWhat temp are you running when it gives you the CEL?
About 4 weeks after installing the 170.I've been running a 160 in summer and winter for 7 years, no issues.
Only the last two winters I've switched to 170 for some heat.
I run the Whipple Tune on a Supercharged Gen 1 and have the radiator fans set to 175 in the Tune.
I rarely see 180 in the summer with the 160 thermostat.
In the winter with the 160, it never went over 160.
The Gen II, it could be that Ford made it tough to run a colder engine due to the Governments EPA rules.
But I think others run a 160 with different Tunes so it could be something MPT needs to do.
Gsteve, when did it start throwing the CEL?
