COBB tuning Raptor tune

I’m curious as to why you avoid fuel with ethanol content with your Raptor? I too am in Canada but here on the east coast we only have 91....I had a modded R35 GT-R for 6 1/2 years and I was told by my tuner to actually find and use 91 octane with the most ethanol content possible as it prevents detonation further. Basically it was a better choice for my tuned turbo vehicle so I can only assume it would be the same for the Raptor...

All of the research I have done on ethanol in gasoline has pointed to how bad it is for your motor. So I choose not to run it in any of my vehicles with higher performance motors

Your choice obviously, but I do recommend you do better research. Your lawn mower doesn’t like it for several logical reasons, but your late model real high performance (forced induction) vehicles run better with up to about 30% ethanol. Of course to extract maximum performance they need some small tuning changes. The fuel systems are impervious to ethanol.

UPS dropped off my box today. It was ordered through Cobb on Monday night if I recall correctly. Everything was very well packaged. Installed and already tuned. Needless to say, I’m impressed. Truck drives great.
I had no tune on it prior to this. Truck is smooth, and really wakes up when you roll into the gas pedal. I am currently running the 91oct tune as I live in Arizona.

I will say, I cannot wait for you guys to get TCN tuning out the door. I need someone to adjust my Sport mode shifts as the stock Ford tune feels like a 10yr old did it.

Can’t wait to get it pro-tuned.

In that case I will absolutely do some more research then. What I had read on it raised concerns about it not being good for the motor seals and engine wear. But maybe this is only for older vehicle and smaller engines? If anything that’s good to hear cause I’ll start running 94 premium in my truck

The only reason e85 isn’t “approved” is due to the fuel system capability and the required automatic tune changes associated with the different amounts of ethanol. Ethanol requires significantly more fuel to run at stoichiometric. Gasoline is 14.7(air)/1(fuel) and ethanol is about 7/1.

@COBB Tuning is it ok or advised to run high content ethanol with the OTS tunes? I never would have thought to do so.

@scantone is your truck tuned differently to accommodate?
