Does Cobb have any plans to offer a Performance/Tow package for a 2019?

My truck is my DD and while I very seldom tow I would be willing to give up max performance for the ability to tow to the limits of the truck if ever needed w/o changes or worry. Looking for a set it and forget it solution. Thank you...

No word on that. However, I’d suspect that the reason why towing isn’t recommended is because COBB hasn’t had enough towing data logs to consider it safe, yet.

You could reach out to a COBB Protuner in your area to modify the Stage 1 tune for towing, if you’d like.

Also, swapping to Stage 0 doesn’t take as long as the install or uninstall.

You could keep the AP in your glovebox and plug it in when needed to swap from Stage 1 to Stage 0 and back.

Just a thought.

I installed my intake and Stage 1 tune earlier tonight. The install didn't take very long and wasn't particularly difficult. I chose to remove the "swirl generators" during the install process. I'm hoping we can have a good old fashioned internet fight about whether to leave them in or take them out. I have the Stage 1, 87 octane tune loaded at the moment and the truck feels like it has more power but the power delivery feels even smoother than with the stock tune. Go figure. I'm going to add 2 cans (64 ounces total) of Torco tomorrow to the 90 octane gas I normally use and try out the 91 and 93 octane tunes.

Nick, I've been looking over your site. It appears the dyno run for the 3 variants the Cobb Tuner are the same. Its states stage 1, if that's correct is there a dyno run for the stage 1+ or just the tuner? I'm just curious, not trying to be a ballbuster.

I left mine in. You’re clearly wrong and your truck is slower and less swirly and has 13.3 less horsepower and you should feel bad. Swirls, like body kits, big wings, and individual throttle bodies on NA Honda Civics, add at least 10 hp. I’m right and you’re wrong, forever.

I agree with this. Still early but that’s my first instinct as well. Feels like the power comes in earlier but more steady. Throttle sensitivity settings might change this too but for daily driving it’s pretty good where it’s at.

How is the intake/turbo sound with the swirl generators removed? I’m envisioning them as baffles in a silencer that reduce the turbo noise, but increase the noise with them removed? I’m leaning towards removing them myself but want to hear some first hand experience.

I took mine out long ago--and to my ears I def can hear more turbo whistle--I also have an S&B intake as well....

We will be getting the transmission tune if we paid for the Stage 1+ correct?

Just to clear up any misconceptions, TCM tuning will be at an additional cost. This is consistent with TCM tuning for PDK for Porsche, the GTR TCM, and DSG tuning for VW. No word yet on pricing but I don't want anyone to have the expectation it will be included with the current Accessport price. Once available, you'll have the option to get an Accessport that comes with both ECU and TCM tuning or add the TCM tuning capability to your existing AP.

We'd like to create that! The problem is tuning for max performance can potentially have issues with the higher loads towing can create. It could create similar issues to lugging a turbocharged car at low speed in high gear. With some more development time we may release something specific for towing but the current priority is 2019 support along with Stage 2 and 3 off the shelf maps.

The numbers in the map name are a hard minimum for the octane that can be run. While the ECU is capable of pulling timing to prevent catastrophic failure, there is lots of margin removed when running a map intended for higher octane fuel. The truck won't make more power on those maps without the correct fuel due to excessive timing pull. We haven't done any testing with Torco but I'd be wary of it raising the octane content to the appropriate level.

@COBB Tuning is it possible to order one overnight that doesn't require a signature? I want to overnight one so its at my doorstep tomorrow but your site says everything will require a signature and I wont have anyone home to sign for it.
