I traded in my 2019 Ford Raptor but kept the Cobb Tuner with TCM tuner. I didn't remove the tune when I sold the truck. Does this make the tuner worthless or is there some value?

Thanks

The tuner is married to your truck still. The right thing to do was to leave it in the dash for the next owner, or unmarry the tuner from your truck and sell it separate. But currently, your cobb tuner is worthless as it is still married to your 2019 raptor vin.

Weird, my SCT tuner (Gearhead tune) I had on my 2018 Raptor that got totaled….Gearhead was able to email/sell me a new tune for the 2020 for essentially the price of a re-tune I think it was like $250/$300

Cobb will be able to unmarry that I think but it’s like $50 less than buying a new one which intentionally kills the resale value.

It's just a transfer device. How is it "married" to a truck? Wipe it and start fresh.

Hmm, I just bought a used one from a fellow on FRF, all of his tunes were still on the AP, Cobb didn't have a problem with that and so I took his tunes off and got free ones from Cobb to put back on. I also removed his Goosetune on the AP as I know that wouldn't work on my truck, different VIN.
I registered the AP with Cobb and now (online) it shows it as mine with no reference to the previous owner.
Works great.

Even if you "wipe" it, it is still thinking it's installed on a vehicle and wont install on an additional one. Think of it as a license, when you install it on a vehicle, the license on the device transfers it to the truck and when it's uninstalled the license is brought back to the device. In this case the license is still on the previous truck so a new one needs to be purchased from Cobb.

Sold mine separately for the last raptor but also removed the tune and unmarried from the raptor before trading it in.

If it was possible to tune multiple vehicles with one device without having to pay for each vehicle, then we could do a group purchase of one tuner and pass it around like your sister.

Pretty sure thay was thought of very early on in the business model.
