So, I’m a Cobb lover and have been running the stage 1 OTS tune for a couple thousand miles now. Power is decent but I’m realizing just what a big impact trans tuning could have as well as a protune. I contacted MPT today as they list the access port on their website. JR in sales told me that MPT has officially become a Cobb protuner. They are in the process of dialing in their tunes and applying the trans tune through the access port now. Didn’t want to give me an ETA but said soon. Seems like it could be the best of both worlds. Had him put me on a email notification list for when it’s ready to go.

Same thing for me. I like the accessport better than the ngauge for its capabilities so that matched with their tune is definitely a home run.

yeah, until you drive your truck someplace very different. ( i.e. Altitude changes) or when you take your truck to baja.

And then the MPT is really great to relieve stress by chucking your ngauge out the damn window. It sucks at actually making the truck run. bucking, wrench lights, LOTS of MAF codes, LOTS of P0430 codes and a VERY grumpy truck.

The cobb on the other hand just kept on working. no issues.

The only benefits to the ngauge platform? to clear codes, you are not forced to reset the Keep alive memory like with the AP and you can change the tire size.

word to all those who are switching from ngauge to Cobb...

Change your tire size back to 34.4" BEFORE you marry the cobb tuner and load a tune.

If you do not, you WILL get a PCM/BCM VIN mismatch message on your dash that will not clear. ( unless you reset the Tire size to 34.4")

I paired a 35x1250x18 Ridge Grappler with a set of Fuel Crush 18's. I haven't recalibrated yet but was planning to. I've already ordered the Accessport and tune so can I apply the tune then make the adjustment?

why would you need to recalibrate if you're still running 35s?

My speedo is off due to running 37s. By the time the late fall comes around, I'll most likely be on 39s. These are the reasons why I need to adjust the tire size. I will most likely just do the math and switch my gear ratio for the 39s to be on par with the effective factory ratio with 35s, instead of messing with the tire size in the computer.

I've had them on over a year and haven't really noticed much off. That being said, I wanted to do the calibration just to make sure I wasn't mising anything. I don't have any experience running larger wheels/tires than stock so I'm covering my bases. I wouldn't think an only slightly larger wheel/tire would cause a problem, but I've been wrong before.

nothing to calibrate if you're running 35s. with the taller 37s, the speedo is off by 3-5 mph, but i'm most concerned with the different in shift logic for the trans when the truck has an inaccurate tire size setting.
