Clunking sound on Gen 3 too

Such a shtty thing to have to go through just because Ford won't help us with a truck they made us all wait so long for and charged us so much money. I'm glad you didn't lose any money though.

I’m just about there too but don’t really know what else I would get. What did you get to replace it? I’ll probably get out of mine while its worth a lot.

Has anyone personally put the truck on a lift/rack and looked it over to try and self diagnose?

Is the clunk on droop or compression?

If I would have to guess based on how I was able to reproduce the sound by jumping on the bumper and cycling the suspension, its on compression.

I had a severely exaggerated clunk in my rear passenger shock. I removed it, clunk went away. Ford said “clunk” was normal. Bought new rear passenger shock at my expense. Severe clunk was gone so now I am back to the normal 4 corner clunk that you feel in the floor and hear. Not as annoying but still annoying enough that I don’t want to drive the truck. It’s definately the shocks. 100%. I was going to send in the shock I took off and have Fox rebuild it but it may not be worth it now that I’m probably following suit and selling the truck. Just dont know what to get? I hate to move over to a different brand after 30 years of ford truck ownership but ford really isn’t making anything else I want and am confident that they are building trucks now that are flawed beyond their ability to repair.

It is definitely displeasing to drive a truck that makes hollow clicks and noises that portrays bad suspension component in any other vehicle in the planet. What is worse is being told by the dealers multiple times it is normal. I have a 997.2 gt3 on monoballs that is quieter

Not saying you should be dealing with that on your truck, but if it bothers you, do not do much upgrading in the way of suspension components.

I’m working with the dealer now to try to get out of the truck. They seem interested at buying it for what I paid just to get one on the lot. If I can trade, I may be able to save on the hassle of eBay.

It’s really too bad. Even after dropping money to fix the shock that was straight up broken. I am still left with, albeit less intrusive, a sensation like something is terribly out of place.

If I test drove any used truck that had this kind of behavior, I would think it had a bad balljoint or other broken suspension component(s). I can’t hear worth a damn either so most of the experience is just rattles in the floor. Which is not how a premium product from Ford should be. I wish I wasnt so stubborn, Im sure a lot of other brands are making great trucks so Im sure Ill be in back in another ford. I should probably branch out.

I have the exact same issue, convinced all 4 shocks are bad. I have not heard any complaints with the 37 package. I am trading or selling my current 2021 35 and am getting a 2022 37. its is a great truck but it's gonna be a while before they figure this out.
