Clunking sound on Gen 3 too

So i've been dealing with the clunk issue for a while. The previous dealer couldn't find the noise and there was no issue. Took the truck to a new dealer and they have identified the rear shocks as being the issue. The Ford dealer is telling me that Fords manufacturer warranty on the shocks are 2 years or 24k miles, whichever occurs first and of course my truck has 26,511. They are also suggesting replace both rear shocks and it will cost 3,522.34...


Has anyone had anything simular?

That doesn’t seem right. You can check what your warranty entails here: https://www.ford.com/support/warranty/. Bumper to bumper is three years or 36k miles and does exclude some things, but suspension isn’t one of them.

So they mis-diagnosed it, what was the mileage at that point?

That’s what I am saying what was the mileage the very first time you took it to ANY dealer for the problem.
In simplest terms, did you take the truck in for the clunk before the 25k mile limit? So 1511 miles ago? If so, they mis-diagnosed and you should be covered.

Yea so the first time i took it in was back when the truck had 10-15K miles. The dealer said the current date and mileage on the active open ticker is what its based on for approval - is what repair order is currently open. i can't refer to another dealership unfortunately for their assistance.

Forget about all the semantics with when it was first in and what not. The real problem is bumper to bumper is 3 years/36k miles. Look through all your warranty documentation and see if you can find a single thing about shocks. It is not legal for there to be limitations that are not disclosed to you.

This is exactly what I did, she sent me some paper that I argued didn't apply. Apparently her warranty specialist sent this to her and was forwarded to me

This sounds like a call ford thing. That all looks like ********. That dealership is useless. That first image looks like a warranty for motorcraft parts that are purchased standalone. Like if you bought that shock, which isn’t what’s on the truck anyway, new it would be covered for two years regardless of age of truck. But your shocks are OE and the truck is within bumper to bumper. The second image looks like a check to see if something is covered under a services contract, which doesn’t matter because this is about warranty.
