I just picked up my new raptor yesterday. Noticed on the lower part of both front shocks there is a 2-3" wide clear plastic wrapped around the lower part of them. Is this shipping plastic the dealer missed or is this suppose to stay?

Also noticed the dealer had the tires at 35psi yet the door sill says 44psi. I used the to 40psi, 44psi might make the backend a little bouncy.

Yes leave it, and if you live in an area with salted or chem roads in their winter it's always good to get them clean and then spray them down with a metal protector to stop corrosion on the shock body. I use Amsoil HD metal protector.

It is SUPPOSED TO BE and NORMALLY removed when the Dealer does its "PDI".... (Pre Delivery Inspection) The SVT dealer is supposed to fill out this PDI sheet when they are delivering the vehicle to you. The fact that these were not removed is a sign that it is possible that the inspection was not done completely and properly. He suggested that I go back to the dealer and ask to see the PDI sheet for my truck.

I learned about this that when I was at the CT Raptor GTG at R.K. Motorsports.... I had these on and we removed them. Rory was pretty pissed that the Ford Dealers that sell us these expensive SVT vehicles and that they are NOT ALL doing a proper job with the SVT products.

Dealers and their Techs are supposed to be properly trained to sell / service / deliver this product, and from the way he explained it to me was that the Dealership/Techs become SVT Certified to do sell these vehicles.

Yeah I asked the question because I did not have much confidence in my dealer. And no they did not do a PDI. in fact I had to remind them to get my plates, user manual and nav card.
What is really shocking is this dealer sells a lot of SVT VEHICLES. The had several Cobras and 6 raptors on the lot for sale.
Now though I have conflicting info in this thread about if this plastic stays or not.

Huh,, I still have those on my truck, like to protect the colored svt part of the shock, it looks like aluminum. My bumper was 1/4 on one side and 1" on the other so maybe they just didn't look at it?

If you're taking about the thick clear plastic wrap on the shock body, its suppose to be there. It helps to protect the shocks from damage due to rocks and debris.

The plastic that is wrapped around the blue anodized SVT collar is the part that the original poster asked about... that plastic should be removed...

I will post up a pic later as my dealer did not remove mine as well.
