I use nature’s car wash, it’s run by God and he does a spectacular job of keeping my running boards damn clean, no matter what I’m doing to dirty them up.

Seriously, this is a thing?

and more seriously, yes, God washes my truck’s running boards, because I won’t.

If Mother Nature can make it look this good I would gladly become a tree hugger!

That does look pretty good... Even though it’s the wrong color

We have God here in SoCal, but no rain.

Wait, what? :ROFLJest:

Next thing you know, someone’s going to ask about cleaning exhaust tips

Get you the product called sc1 you will be amazed by this stuff. It is a silicone spray and let me tell you they do not call this stuff new bike in a can for no reason. I started using it on my Polaris rzr and now use it on everything plastic and rubber even the tires. It's like 10.00 per van but worth it. I just used on my steps today and they look new again.

I would say that using silicone spray on the running boards is a very bad idea. Silicone attracts dust and makes it stick. It will also build up in the finish, and any other plastic and rubber items (trim, tires) making them eventually look brown.

In addition silicone can discolor vinyl (especially clear bras or PPF), and getting it on the paint will prevent sealants or waxes from lasting, since it interferes with the bonding.

Thanks for the suggestions but not sure this stuff has the same effects as a straight silicone spray. I can tell you it attracts no dust at all as it says on the can. I have been using it for years on my atvs and cars and no problems with build up or discoloration so far. The thing I like about using it on the tires is that it does not sling all the black mess on the truck or cars off like regular tire shine.

I know this thread is old but I had the same problem with mine. The solution for me was buying a drill brush. Just search drill brush on amazon. I used the stiff bristle with the extension. Spray a bug and grime remover first. Then when dry follow up with a product called just once. It's used to restore spray in bed liners and is non stick or slip.

There seems to be some variability in the finish from the factory.

My passenger side board cleans very nicely and has a uniform black look.

My drivers side board, from day one, is a somewhat different finish. It appears more blotchy, and is harder to clean. When cleaning and drying it with a rag it always snags the rag, whereas the passenger side doesn't at all.

I suspect this is why some people are having a tougher time than others

"SC1 High gloss coating is specifically formulated to coat plastic, fiberglass, carbon fiber, metal and painted surfaces. Makes the clean up process easier – excellent for use under fenders and wheel wells to prevent mud and dirt from adhering to plastic. When applied to surface is water resistant and leaves a long lasting luster and sheen."

From Amazon:
High gloss SC1 Clear Coat is specifically formulated for the Powersports industry
SC1 coats plastic, fiberglass and painted surfaces
Makes the clean up process easier - excellent for use on M/C and ATV fenders to prevent mud and dirt from adhering to plastic
SC1 is water resistant and leaves a dry, long lasting luster and shine
Fresh Clean Scent

Sounds like this would be great on the wheel well liners

Read the reviews on Amazon - a LOT of people LOVE this product! (I've never heard of it)
