Chirp sound, shortly after startup

2018 802a, 45k miles. Noticed a chirp sound on cold weather (30 degree) start:

1. Starts fine, purrs like a kitten
2. Warm up about 30 seconds
3. Fast idle drops, then 4 short chirps
4. Consistently does this but only noticed it when it’s colder outside

The video below was edited to shorten length and the chirps occurred exactly 30 seconds after cold startup.

Remove the canary from the engine bay?

I have something similar but it sounds more like a slipping noise than a chirp in almost the same situation.

Yeah, agree it could be a belt slipping. Weird it does it after the initial fast idle drops - I was hoping someone might know if an actuator triggers or something opens or closed at that point after startup.

Well, dropping the truck off tomorrow so the tech can have a listen. Showed the video and the SA first reaction was “it’s just the injectors making a noise”. But then the advisor said I had a ticking that could be the phasers or a tensioning belt. I told him we just did the phasers, plus the engine makes zero noise at startup - sounds great. So who knows. We will see...

Yeah, mine is a long story and I think I posted it somewhere on the forum back in 2021.

Basically, Ford replaced the engine under warranty. New long block, turbos and a bunch of other parts. In my case the truck had a history of issues and I was a persistent MFer. Also helps to have a good service department that appreciates a persistent but patient customer.

My case was an isolated and rare thing. My truck was an early phaser replacement candidate and it went through multiple re-works before Ford engineering came out with rev 2 of the phasers.

Oh wow - hoping mine was just a squeaking pulley due to the cold. Glad to see the truck has been good for you ever since.
